Well folks it's been a long time in the making but we finally
cracked it. As most of you know the new v1.4 and v1.5 Xbox had
a new FOCUS video encoder (FS454) which replaced the old Conexant
version (CX25871) and video output could no longer be generated.
This sounds like this should do the trick.
the bios comes as a 256k bios if i run the MAKE1MB.bat file will this allow me to load it with PBL 1.3? and can should it work with the same RC4Key & EEPROMKey1_0 's as i have for the 4977 bios?
please let me know

I tried using 3 approaches:
- Audio Hack
- PBL 1.3
- PBL 1.3.5i
and the following bioses in all possible combinations with the above 3 mentioned approaches:
- X2 4979 BFM (both 61 and 67)
- M7 BFM EjectFix
- D6 BFM EjectFix
NONE OF THEM WORK:

I have gotten an error identical to pic# 1 on a holiday tetris bundle v1.5
Not sure what I did to fix it but currently it is running:
-Signed Fonts PBL v1.3 (could NOT get it to work right with newer version.)
-Bigfonts
-D6 BFM EjectFix
And it works fine now.
In all the fuzziness it looks like I see "Loading Rom: F:/Bioses/EvoxM7 bin"
Did you rename the bios to xboxrom.bin?

if there is only a Signed pbl then be sure to patch the default.xbe for -font or -habibi
alot of people are getting cfg files with NO rc4 key,,and the eeprom key is all zero's
make sure those lines are all numbers, not all 0's
other than that, there isnt a reason why it shouldnt work as long as you have the right exploits and the right bios.
Scrambled Video = WRONG BIOS you need M7 BFM or 4979(preferably 4979.67((you'll see that bios file in the rar when you download it))
Blank screen = shit happens,, reboot your xbox if it still does it, make sure your default.xbe is signed properly.
blank screen can be a few problems, i get it mostly when the xbox is not shut OFF just rebooted
Pic #1 the one with all the error messages = you have the wrong bios, one that does NOT work with PBL,. OR you have a cfg file that does not have the RC4 key or eeprom keys.
once again the bios's that WORK

ALL bios's MUST be a BFM bios, if they do not say BFM then forget it.

From the Xbox Dashboard i get the kernel and bios version.
K: 1.00.5531.01
B: 1.00:4920.01
Ive followed the tuts on how to determine the xbox version, its either 1.4 or 1.5, i dont have a multi meter so i cant determine the correct version.
I tried do to the fonts mod using the following combination.
- bigfonts25
- 4979.67_bfm_256k.bin
- PBL1.3.5i_signed_font_exploit.zip
PBL came with an RC4 key and EEPRomKey already in the boot.cfg file (not 0's), so i assume it is correct, this is the first time ive used 1.3.5i, all other times ive used 1.3 and the rc4key that was supplied with that worked fine.
I renamed the bios to xboxrom.bin and placed it in the Bioses folder
The xbox boots up fine and the fonts hack seems to work, then a black screen appears and is displaying white text, it is unreadable though, due to flickering, and it stays on this screen and nothing else happens. It looks very similar to one of the pics already posted in this thread.
I usually flash the TSOP, but i dont want to try this until i can get a bios working on one of these new xboxes with the pheonix bios loader.
If someone else has succesfully modded a "beast pack" xbox could you please provide some insight.

I am having these same problems with an Austaralian Beast pack.
I am using PBL1.3.5i.
I put the new xecuter bios and the M7 in the Bioses directory.
Do the file names have to be renamed??? The boot.cfg contians numbers and when I boot the xbox it ony flashes a funky black screen with a bit of text on it. I think it says there is something wrong with the bios files.
The font exploit is working correctly.
Any ideas????

I mean if worst comes to worst, you can just sign all your XBEs for the hack you're using for a while (not use Phoenix), but unfortunately it'll be eject & reset.

the video is all scrambled.. and no matter what bios i try i get the red dot and green line error.
could this be a different video chip?
my production date is 2003-09-24
can anyone else suggest anything to try?
someone said early in this post that X2_4976.02_bfm.bin worked but was scrambled.. i tried that.. but i get the red dot green line error

First of all, you are all aware that the Phoenix Bios Loader screen is all garbled due to the new video chip. There is no fix for this yet, but you can still get into EvoX and other apps without trouble.
I used the HDD Swap method, as I have always hacked xboxes that way and had no trouble. I also upgraded the HDD to a Maxtor 120GB but I will not go into that now.
1. Obtain the following software from the 'usual place':
Phoenix Bios Loader v1.3 Signed.rar
Phoenix Bios Loader v1.3.5i Signed.rar
Bigfonts2.5.tgz
EvoX Dashboard
EvoX M7 Bios
HD_Driver for Windows
2. Use the swap trick described elsewhere to get the HDD working under Windows. BACKUP YOUR XBOX HDD
3. Using HD Driver, put the fonts into the Fonts folder, and the Phoenix Bios Loader v1.3 files into the root of the System partition. Also copy evoxdash.xbe to the root of the System partition.
The reason I am using PBL 1.3 and not PBL 1.3.5i at this stage, is because there is not currently a way to create the 'BIOSES' folder using HD Driver. We do that later on.
4. Expand the Fonts folder and for the two xbox fonts (not the bert and ernie fonts) right click and select Properties then rename the fonts from .xtf to .xft.
5. Replace the xbox HDD back in the xbox and boot it up WITH A LAN CABLE CONNECTED TO YOUR HUB/SWITCH/PC. Turn on your xbox.
6. The screen should begin to flicker and you can sort of make out the Phoenix movie. It will take about 15 seconds before you see EvoX (if it all went well).
The trick here is that this only works once. If you muck something up, go back and Restore your HDD from the image you created earlier.
7. FTP into your xbox and replace the default.xbe (PBL 1.3) with the new one (PBL 1.3.5i). Also replace the boot.cfg and install the JPGs that are part of the package. Create a 'BIOSES' folder in your C drive and copy xboxrom.bin to it.
8. Reboot your xbox. It SHOULD boot up with yet a different Phoenix screen and eventually get back into EvoX.
Voila. You now own a hacked Beast Pack xbox.
The XBOX used here was purchased 5 days ago from Electronics Boutique in Canberra. It is the Beast Pack and has a manufacturing date of 29/09/03.

I've tested Pbl 1.3 with EvoD6 and Pbl 1.3.5i with EvoD6, Evo7, executer 4979 and it
does'nt work. The only thing I made different is, that I used the 007 hack to connect
to evox. So why should work this method and mine not?

Yes, X2_4976.02_bfm.bin worked for me. It would boot into EvoX, but the video was scrambled. I got the file from the "hacked" folder in the "Boot.From.Media.Bios.Collection-COMPLEX" rar (cpx-bfmc.rar) found in the "usual" place. Worked with both Pbl 1.3 and Pbl 1.3.5i.
This was the only bios I could find that worked. All the others gave me the green line/dot black screen that you (and others) get.
Manufacturing date of the X-Box is 2003-09-07. It's a European PAL machine. Notice how the ones that don't work all have one thing in common; they are all made after 2003-09-03...

and they both failed, but i then modded two xbox that were 2003-10-XX and these were fine.
ive got a couple more coming today and will see what these do.

so I can't give it back. DAMN
Now I have a XBOX with a big hdd, but I only can use 8 damned gb of it.

First I used HDDriver to install
1.Bigfonts
2.EvolutionX (newest) signed for font with XBdump renamed to default.xbe
3.evox.ini edited to have c:bios.bin for flash bios and winbond flash details.
3.M7 bios file as c:bios.bin (256)
All went well untill flash time and the device would not erase, Seems the newest evolutionX still does not flash wnbond chip.
I then got raincoat out of the 007/raincoat package.
Signed the linux xbe file in raincoat with xbedump to work with font.
Used FTP to replace default.xbe with the re-singed linux xbe.
used FTP to upload the raincoat folder and BOOT folder from 007/raincoat
re-booted the xbox and linux ran But no video, only audio
Telnet into 192.168.0.64 username root password xbox
Ran the command to flash the onboard winbond chip and it flashed fine with te m7 bios.
OK. Now its all working. time to put thing back to normal.
Inserted a evolutionX boot disk and ftp'ed back into the machine.
Removed bigfonts
Renamed the old .xtf files back to .xtf
Removed default.xbe (linux)
Installed a unsigned evolutionx onto the root of c
removed the bios file.
Reboot and im done.
If I had of used raincoat from the start it would of been ever quicker. But I dont think HDDriver will make folders. So Evolutionx dashboard is still needed.

I know the font hack is working because I can see the PBL loading (although the video is funky) So i wonder if I use a signed -font evox would that show up funny? if it did or didn't, then would flashing the bios with the M7 fix everything???

Though I had some trouble using xbtool to edit M7 to change dashpaths (I wanted to change it to e:\evox\evoxdash.xbe). I had to end up using the default directory of c:. I didn't try Xecutor 4979 (or whatever the latest one is)

XBOXs that don't want to be modded. My XBOX loads the font hack then the
PBL with the scrambled Phoenix and after that it freezes and I see a black
screen with some white pixels.
I tried every bios but nothing happens.
I'm sure that the font hack works properly, 'cause when I sign Evox it loads perfect
and everything is normal. damn shit.

Before i start i just want to mention that i tired many times to mod a beast pak xbox with pheonix bios loader, but i just couldnt get it to work, then i saw a post from "convert" saying that he didnt use pbl he went straight to evox, so i tried it and it worked.
**Both the boxes had a manufacturing date of 23-sept-2003
Heres is what i did, ill try and give u a little more detail.
-First i soldered 2 points on the top of the motherboard
- i used hdd hot swap method with xlinux to access the hdd.
- copied on the following files,bigfonts25 into the fonts folder, renamed the original fonts to *.bak
- signed evox with fonts and renamed to default.xbe, and placed this along with evox.ini into c:
*****IMPORTANT*****
make sure your have 2 copies of evox in the xbox c:
one called default.xbe(audio signed)
and another called evoxdash.xbe
after making these changes the xbox booted straight into evox, the tsops were both winbond, i think all beast packs are winbond tsops therefore you cant use evox to flash the tsop use must use raincoat.
I got raincoat from the 007_With_Raincoat pack from the usual place, all of the raincoat files were in a savegame folder called "UDATA4541000d" i just copied all the files from the pack into a folder called rain, there is a file in there called default.xbe i signed it with fonts.
here are the files i used and the location on the xbox c:

c:/rain/xbsavegame.dat
c:/rain/BOOT/BOOT.CFG

i used EvoxM7_ef_BFM.bin on one xbox and 4979.06_256k.bin(repack) on the other xbox, both bioses worked fine.
**note some of these files arent needed like the evox files and savegame files, i just left them there, they wont cause any harm
**Make sure you edit c:/evox.ini to include raincoat
Then i ftped into the box and uploaded the raincoat files, tried running raincoat from the evox menu but it didnt work, i dont know why, so i reverted to an earlier version of evox and also signed it with fonts and then raincoat worked.
**EDIT**
I dont the version of evox that i had to put on the second time, but i can confirm that Free-X evox(dosent need to be signed with fonts) will work, i got this from "Gouki-xbox modless archive" at the usual place. For some reason raincoat/linux just wont boot from EVO-X 1.8.3921

Once raincoat loaded up you see the linux penguin appear on the screen the light on the front will turn orange, but nothing appears on the screen this is normal.
Make sure your pc is networked to the xbox change your ipaddress and subnet to something like this:
ip address: 192.168.0.100
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
On your pc bring up a dos prompt and type "telnet 192.168.0.64", this will connect to the xbox, hen enter in username: root and password: xbox.
these are the commands i typed to flash the tsop
-change to the raincoat folder
cd /media/C/rain/raincoat
-just run raincoat and see if it can identify your bios, if it cant then your soldering is dodgy
./raincoat
-if that works then flash the bios
./raincoat -p EvoxM7_ef_BFM.bin
Ouila!!!
One modded beast pack xbox.

my XBOX. I already mentioned that I can boot Evox when it's signed
with font. But the scrambled PBL freezes when it tries to boot any BIOS.
MFD 9-18-03 PAL not an Aussie Beast Pack, but I think that doesn't
matter. And why should it work when it's flashed into the TSOP, when
the PBL doesn't?

I see the grabeled PBL screen and then black. I'm useing the good old hotswap trick, and I've just tried PBL 1.3.5i (I renamed the Audio folder to Bioses) with EvoX D6 BFM, M7 BFM and X2 4979.06 BFM, and bigfonts25, but no such luck.
The files that I'm useing is the exact same as I'm useing on my Xbox v1.0, so I know they work, or at least did... I've not added eeprom keys to boot.cfg, which I didn't on the v1.0 (or v1.3) either, are they necessary?

I've activated the debug mode and then I can see that it loads the Bios from P:Bioses
and after that nothing happens. But why I don't understand it. The same files work on my

when you go in there just act all dumb and say how it won't play music
ask if you can get a docket to get a replacement xbox later, i suggest you do that, just in case they replace it with another of the same release that won't mod.
then when you go back, tell them you're looking for a particular date of xbox, because you read it was better.

Describe what problems you're having, loading PBL, ie where does it stop and what is happening on the screen.
