| Negative, the hddinfo.txt is from the "Backup" alternative in Evox, and the eeprom.bin from the same backup is loaded with liveinfo. |

A BIG "Thank you!" to sabwafare & Grospolina for all the help & info in this thread. I successfully (and fairly easily) did the hard drive upgrade without any hot-swapping of the hard drives, etc. As a matter of fact, it was so easy that not only did I upgrade my Xbox drive to a 120GB, but I also made an additional clone of my original drive so that I would never (in theory) have to mess around with my original drive again (it's now stored away safely). |

Can I lock the new drive with config magic by: 1. Boot the X with the original drive in, and start ConfigMagic. 2. Once CM is up, hotswap to my NEW drive, which is fed power from a splitter. 3. Get CM to detect the drive change, and lock the drive? I haven't tried this yet as I don't want to damage anything. But would this work? |

| No, the password is calculated from the model number, the serial number, and the EEPROM file. The EEPROM file doesn't have the model and serial numbers, so you have to plug in the HDD in order to retrieve them. If you'll notice, the "HDD Info" box has a drop list where you can pick the location of your Xbox drive. Right now, it's just grabbing the model and serial numbers from your PC's HDD, so that's why it's wrong. The "EEPROM Info" box should be correct, however. I'm using LiveInfo Beta 2. |

| sry for n00bish question, but with what key should i unlock/relock xbox-hd? one from hddinfo.txt (its the same as in liveinfo calculated password under HDD info) or from eeprom.bin "unique HDD key" they are diffrent keys tnx. |

The one in hddkey.txt is used for unlocking and relocking your old drive (but not your new drive). |

| By the way, couldn't you just unplug the old drive and plug in the new one? The new one isn't locked, so there isn't any reason for it to be powered at bootup. The old drive doesn't need it's power preserved (after unhooking it) either. I'd first unplug the power before unplugging the IDE cable to see if that works, IF I were doing it that way. |
