same thing happens to me, EXACT same setup just with reloaded fonts.

ok i don't know how to do that, but what you did worked for me. only that eject bug isn't ok with me it keeps rebooting when i eject.

If you use phoenix bios loader 1.3 with the latest bigfonts (bigfonts25) it should´nt reboot when you eject. If it still is, then you are doing something wrong.

No offense Erikman, but you're not exactly being helpful. You gave me this exact same reply. I'm doing absolutely nothing wrong, and I have the same problem. Bigfonts25, properly installed signed pbl 1.3 I've re-done it over 20 times now, and I have had no success. I've been doing it wrong these 20 times? Doubtful. I can't understand how everyone else is fixing their eject problems and getting into the MS dash so easily.

yup, same prob here. have done everything right about a hundred times. with either hang or reboot no matter what i do. i'm not a fucking idiot - i know what i'm doing.

it's obviously some compatibility problem - BUT, as far as i know, i don't know what.

when you are having the reset on eject issue..is it after you have IGR back too dash while running a DVD or XBOX game? reset on eject for me doesn't work when i do this..but in all other cases it does

and i wish i could get this problem somehow..so i could fuck with things and try and help ya'll fix it untill then i don't really know how too help you with the ms dash not working..what you've listed is exactly perfect..i've even re-tried it doing those exact steps..and it STILL works for me..i have NO IDEA what's goin on with that

Got my eject problem fixed... no idea how, it just happened to work one of the million times I did the same thing over and oiver again. Still have the goddamn remote problem though.

for the remote too work..go too the MS dash. and then put in the dvd.it will auto load and ur remote now works

Can't get the MS Dash to work at all. I've done the whole process of modifying it (xft) and signing it, etc... it just refuses to work. Doesn't matter at this point anyway, I traded the remote for a wireless controller from a friend and am just using dvdx2 now. Now I just need to figure out how to get dvdx2 onto the HD rather than using the disc.

Sure, I might be able to run DVDs with my remote if inserting the DVD after executing the MS dashboard, but this is not going to happen if I cannot get it to work at all.

So, could we please get back to the original topic here?
That is how to fix the problem with not being able to run the xft-patched and font-signed ms dashboard AT ALL?

you've found 4 instances of x.t.f in your xboxdash.xbe file?

Also make sure you use the X-Free font exploit xbedump. the command line should look like this:
xbedump xboxdash.xbe -font

Then rename the OUT.XBE file to newdash.xbe and put it at your C: Drive.

Also put the ernie and bert files ONLY at C:fonts and not at the root!

This way it should work fine...

My half assed solution to this problem was to install an old dash (4627) to the C in ADDITION to the main one
since all the data files are in the root instead of folders, they happily co-exist with it named msxboxdash.xbe and it reads its own xtf fonts

So you hacked another dashboard, audio signed it, renamed it, and put it in the root of C:, and configured evox.ini to use that as its MSDashboard?
Did you use the fonts from your original dash, the ones from the "other" ms dashboard?

Nice. Is it only the msdashboard.xbe that is needed, or something else?  And, does it allow DVD playback?

search using that and do NOT change anything else.  just change the xtf to the xft.  also make sure you sign it with

CODE

xbedump xboxdash.xbe -font

then rename the out file to msxboxdash.xbe and send it to your xbox on c.  and do what you did with your evox.ini.

hope this helps, because i had some wierd ass problem almost like this and this fixed it.  make sure you have a link actuallu pointing to c:msxboxdash.xbe
and run it from there

It worked!! Yess!
Thank you all people, and specially you phobs and shahriyar for your great input.
Searched the ms dashboard for the hex values suggested by shahriyar rather than for plain text, and hacked it with those values and it worked!! Yess!

And the original DVD playback still works! The only thing is that I have to wait for Evox to load before inserting the DVD discs, but that only takes about 25-30 secs, I can live with that.

So now I have not only a great game console and DVD player (original XBOX features), but also really great a DIVX playback (xbmp 2.4), a cool arcade machine (MAME) and a nice old Snes too (Xsnes9x). Man, I am in heaven!
