Title: Xbox Hd Locked With Wrong Pw And I Need Help..

since the search is down right now i cant find my old topic, but..

im at the atapwd screen and i got my hard drive to get unlocked with the wrong password. now what do i need to do in atapwd to make sure the hard drive wont lock again when i reboot?

is there anything im doing wrong?

if i get a chip for my xbox, will i be able to fix this hard drive?

I'd have to double check the info, but last time I used atapw, there was a command you use after you unlock to keep it from unlocking. Read the .nfo.

If you can't get it to unlock, a mod chip won't help you. An Xbox will never boot with a HDD locked to match another Xbox. Only unlocked and drives locked to match it's EEPRom.

Ñàì ïàðîëü õðàíèòñÿ íà äèñêå (íåïîñðåäñòâåííî â ñëóæåáíîé îáëàñòè äèñêà èëè â ìèêðîõåìå ôëåø ïàìÿòè íà ïëàòå äèñêà). Ïàðîëü ñîõðàíÿåòñÿ ïðè âûêëþ÷åíèè ïèòàíèÿ êîìïüþòåðà. Ïàðîëü äèñêà íèêàê íå ñâÿçàí ñ ïàðîëåì BIOS ìàòåðèíñêîé ïëàòû êîìïüþòåðà. Òî åñòü åñëè äèñê ñ óñòàíîâëåííûì ïàðîëåì óñòàíîâèòü â äðóãîé êîìïüþòåð, òî ïàðîëü îñòàíåòñÿ.

anyways, if you or anyone can help me with what to do when i get it unlocked and to keep it unlocked, it would be greatly appreciated.

I read back crap from the readme file of atapwd as well. However it says that it supports two functions called
DISABLE WITH USER PASSWORD
FREEZE LOCK
One of the two must do the job.
Else download hddunlock
It contains a utility called hddisabl that does what you want.

when i go to DISABLE WITH USER PASSWORD or use hddisable.exe it asks for a password, now what password am i supposed to use?

what if i dont know what the password im supposed to use is?


what if i unlocked the HD and then formated the HD ?

Ok... I had the same problem as you.

Just use atapwd.  

1) First unlock using the master password
2) Disable using the master password

BTW - the 'freeze' command did nothing for me.  No need to use any other program!

I'm glad I read you post... I just happened to be doing the same thing tonight - transfering a locked 80GB to a new console.

BTW - if you used ConfigMagic to lock the drive the password is TEAMASSEMBLY.

If not, you'll have to go through another way.

i locked it DOS, i forgot what program, but.. what should i do? i mean.. i dont know what the password really should be.

I guess you could also call the maker and ask them if they have a master password. Not sure if they will give it to you but hey.

i know the password i locked it with, but im unsure of what the password is to dissable it from relocking. is that the password you were talking about?


anybody know what the master password would be on a seagate HD? ;D

hdlock will lock the drive
hddisabl will keep the drive from locking again

i tried using the same password to dissable with atapwd, but it said it couldnt work.

it gave me an error saying somethin glike.. time out or unable to do request, or something..


i checked my warrenty and it says i can exchange my drive, do you think i should just go ahead and exchange and stop messing with this one?

hdunlock will always say "done" when you hit enter after entering the password. It doesn't always work, but it will always say "done." If you use the same password with hddisable.exe and it gives you an error, then you know the hard drive didn't unlock.

There are ways to unlock the drive...including hot-swapping. If you have the time to wait for a replacement drive, then I would do that just to be on the safe side.

I misunderstood the question. Sorry... Anyway yes the password to disable the lock is the same one you unlock it with.

Also the hdd locking apps dont work worth a siht. I couldnt figure out how to make them work right myself.

they work fine if you use the correct password. I use hdlock.exe, hdunlock.exe, and hddisabl.exe on a daily basis
