Title: Disabling Xchip
Post by: dlj8115 on November 30, 2004, 05:16:00 PM
Is it true that when you go into the TSOP from the evox menu that the xchip is disabled? so i can play xboxlive, (still taking a risk with the new banning systems) .  Thanks for any input.

To disable the x-chip you only need to boot into the M$ dash which is an option on the evox v1.3 bios, altho like you have stated having the x-chip disabled doesnt seem to matter with the new banning format they are using on xbox live.

Sorry for going off topic but I have evox v1.2 bios and when I select msdash it just boots me back to xvox dash. Are you saying that this is fixed in 1.3?
Thanks

check your evox ini to see where its looking for the M$ dash.

it could be that its looking for msxboxdash.xbe when you might have left it as xboxdash.xbe

Not quite.  Disabling of the chip can still prevent you from getting banned (even with XBLive's new security measures) from XBLive, given that your Xbox was never banned and that you're using the stock HD.

Oh cool , so you mean if you disable your x-chip with a stock hardrive (doesnt matter what other applications you may have put on the hardrive) you wont be banned from xbox live as long as you havent been previously banned.
Thats excellent , i didnt know that, will have to spread that handy piece of advice around, Thanks Mast3r Ch13f.

Exactly... there are some people who may argue and say that having homebrew apps or saves will get you banned, but according to my personal tests, that's not the case.

read about the "marriage theory" in the xbox live sextion.   you don't necessasrily need a stock hdd, i don't use one and have been perfectly fine.
