Title: Live Update Bad?

alright you all know I one of the original posters in this forum and understand how this all works (non-n00b)

welll one thing is bothering me, some people have posted that when you try to update your dash with live it also updates it so you can't use the exploit.

I haven't seen the facts behind this so I just wanted so people to  post once and for all if the live update is out.

waiting to update with my newly purchased mechassault.

Melee.. i tried using my backup copy of mech assault on live i managed to get through but it told me to download a update so i figured maybe MS has came out with an update to stop us so i downloaded i backed up my files first though and it seems it wont let me boot up the free-x exploit for some reason

can someone verify this ?

I had a virgin umodified v1 xbox, it gave me no version info in system info, so it was a 3944 w/ original dashboard

I want to use the new hacks, but it requires an updated dashboard, so I hooked up the ethernet cable, loaded a live game, let it update my xbox, and now it shows in the system info:

K:  3944
D:  4920


now, I havent tried any hacks yet,  I am waiting on my megax key,  but will I be able to use one of the new hacks and combinations of programs, to do what I want :  which is, to run Gentoo linux on the xbox, and play divx/dvd/svcd  on the xbox - without installing a mod chip or flashing the bios (i.e. without opening the xbox)

same with me except I have a 4817 kernel.

I have been playing xbeconnect mech assault all day anyway!
