Hello everyone can someone answer a couple questions for me.
Is the cromwell the bios for the X-chip? Does X-chip come with bios already installed it just needs to be flashed for use?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

cromwell comes with the x-chip. You need to get a hacked bios and write it to the chip.

Yea man, download evox 1.1 and do a load raw select that bin file then do a write changes, and it should work.

Cromwell is the shipping OS for the X-Chip. You cannot run ANY unsigned code/software and it contains no MS code. You can run any standard Bios (ex EVOX M8) from the Cromwell OS and supports flashing of Bios files and button assignment.
There is aonther bios written only for the X-Chip called the X-Chip Bios. The lattest version as of now is 1.2. This bin file is not only a BIOS but also an OS and replaces the Cromwell OS when wrtting to the X-chip. This is why you must write the whole image (via load RAW) to the X-Chip instead of writing just a bank (via the load bios on the X-control)
The X-Chip OS/BIOS is built on Evox lattest M8 bios with many advanced features that only works on the X-chip such as SRAM support LBA 48 support and EEPROM tools.
If you have the X-chip this OS/BIOS is BEST for it.

Also, to load bios's from PC and customize boot up bios, use X-Control software, available from the eb2k website,
