Title: Xbox Live Cannot Be Reached
Post by: manicbomber on October 16, 2004, 12:39:00 PM
I'm assuming that the title is the message you get after your eeprom has been banned.  THe real topic is why, why has my eeprom been banned?  What is the bug in 1.2 that is allowing Live to be able to tell that I have a modded Xbox?  There is definitely a huge gapping hole in 1.2, because this has happened twice and I think its Mortal Kombat.

You have to be kidding.  I'm the only one who got banned from Live recently?  What's going on with my X-Chip that isn't going on with everyone else's that I have gotten banned twice for just trying to log on to Live?

First off all you can only be banned once.

Once banned always banned (at least until you get a new eeprom)

If you have enabled the XBOX Live blocker in Evox 1.2 setup, you will not be able to contact any Live servers and will not be banned.

If you at any point have connected to XBOX Live, with a modchip enabled, then your XBOX is permanently banned.

Yeah, Grif, that's um great, but I do have the Live Blocker enabled, and it is with 1.2, and I am banned, which seems to throw your little redundant post right out the freaking window, because like I already said, there seems to be a problem with the Live Blocker with 1.2, because I am in fact banned from Live.  And yes I am aware that having the mod chip enabled and having your hard drive unlocked are good ways of getting banned from Live, but like I said that wouldn't really be possible unless my Xbox was contacting Live even while the Live Blocker was enabled.

Yeah, so, comprehension, you know it's what fortune 500 owners are saying that kids aren't getting out of public education these days.  I have to say I agree.

First of all, take a chill pill. Your probebly doing somthing wrong, like maybe your brother/friend is loading up m$ dashboard and clicking the live tab or maybe there is just a game like you said mortal kombat going on live. If your so P*ed of about it get a second xbox (there only £99 now so don't complain about price & dont chip it) then go on live with that.

The liev blocker prevenst software/games from conencting automatically the NET and to live server to update dash, etc.

If you have it enabled no games will go out, if you have it disabled, then some games if detect Network will go out and connect without you knowing and can ban you!

Having your harddrive locked is godo for live, but if not original drive, your eeproms HD key will differ and may cause your error.

You never said anything about having Live Blocker enabled or not.
I was trying to help you, guess you are so well educated you don't need it.

And yes, as far as i know you are the only one getting banned from XBOX live, cause it works just fine here and i don't see anyone else complaining about it.

So, comprehension, you know it's what fortune 500 owners are saying that kids aren't getting out of public education these days. I have to say I agree.

Also, to play live you must use Original Games, no backups.

Also, was this a brand new systme or purchased used???

And how could it happen twice? once your banned you need new eeprom, no ways back!

I beleive user error, but not enough details provided.

Ok, it happened twice, and now technically three times, because yes I already know about the EEPROM.  I woke up this morning to yet another ban.  I have an X-Chip, and I've had it for the last 2 months, and I've never had this problem.  I only play on Xbox Live with original games.  I was playing on Live all last night with original games.

This all started about a week ago, my Xbox started getting itself banned from Live.  Change EEPROM, wake up the next day to a ban.  It doesn't matter if I touch the Xbox or not.  Either the chip is defective or something, because I shouldn't be banned.

If you waking up to a BAN, are you leaving games running overnight?

Whats your setup ( BIOS, install method, harddrive, dashboard )

Maxtor 120 GB HD
X-Chip EvoX 1.2 BIOS
Avalaunch Dashboard (most recent)

manicbomber,

You should read this post form knodi on the XBox Online Gaming forum:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=291617

His experience is very similar to yours.  Maybe you should contact him and trade note.

1. You got banned on the 16th
He got banned on the 17th

2. Both of you run Avalaunch

3. Both of you got banned multiple times even though you both took proper precautions while using xblive.

A question about evox,  Are you pointing to dashboard or using default?

Aare you running stealth installation of evox?

I am not running a stealth install of Avalaunch, because I don't know how to change the location in the 1.2 bios, or any other bios, from C:avalaunch.xbe to F:avalaunch.xbe.

Is your harddrive locked?

And for the record, I'd LOVE to see X-Chip 1.3 support stealth installs.  That may very well be the problem here.

Aphex my friend uses a 120 Seagate and he has the exact same setup except for that and he did not get banned.  I don't think it has anything to do with the stealth install.  Either the EEPROM that was sold to me was resold and banned, the Maxtor HDD (which is the same as what the other guy who is on the board is using) causes some sort of problem that only god knows what, or some X-Chips go defective and forget to shut off.

manicbomber: Very simepl way to tell if xchip off upon boot if using Evox 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2.  If you see purple sheild top left means active.

The xbox ban is been reported by more Avalaunch users, just wondering what version of dash you all have installed, as its becoming more common.  Also, do you have original M$ dash on xbox as well??? if not possible why getting banned.

I am using the latest version of Avalaunch, which is .49.1 if I'm not mistaken and my msdash is original, as in I have not modified it and it has only been updated by Xbox Live.

Read front page news from last week, xbox live is banned modified xbox's, and they have been probing harddrives for months.  Possibility since alot of people getting banned now, is there are looking at invalid harddrive sizes and banning on that aspect.  Just a theory but they have probed out harddrive detetcing prior to xbox live 2 fixes.
