Are you positive you have a check mark in check this location ( the one you specified )?
Yes, I'm positive. It's been checked and the directory and files do exist. As I said, I know how to install drivers and I've successfully done it on my w2k box. Just having problems with my xp box.

Also is this are greyout out in selection?
It's not greyed out. I'm able to select it and I get the proper directory by browsing (not typing it in), so no spelling errors or such.

Are you running SP2 by anychance?
Nope, sp1a. Although I don't think that matters, since from other posts, people were able to install the drivers on sp2 boxes, just had problems with the x-control program (until the recent update).
1.06 does not include the .dll you mention that was a patch for flashing bios while inside xbox and powered where it did not disconnect properly.
If the software loadproper on w2k system, something is fishy with the winxp, do you have administrator rights? BTW it does not matter what SP you use.
Have you tried booting in safemode and removing all USB drivers then restarting and load the xchip software drivers? SAFEMODE removal allows removing GHOST USB devices.
