| Too many post oh this is the end of the xbox, mourn it an early death. For me actually this hack is the birth of the xbox for those of us who aren't hardened pirates and really do only use their xbox for xbmp (And emu's although all my roms are from originals) this changes everything. Who cares if M$ stop supporting the xbox if they did then are they really going to be bothered about illegally compiled binaries I think not. Xbox savage go back to pirating every game ever and then judging people by your own actions it suits you. |

You sir, are a fool. Lets draw you a scene: Jimmy: Hey did you hear you can mod your xbox without opening it now Johnny: Oh, so its easier? Jimmy: Yeah, much easier Johnny: What does it let you do? Jimmy: You can get games for like $5 Johnny: OMFG"111!2!1"!!! *Jimmy and Johny do this, tell more friends cycle continues* Basically, normal (Dont wanna say lam0rs The people who actually care about emulators and applications will already have their xbox modded. |

| I hate the elitist attitude people have with regards to the xbox. I am not going to slag the system, because its been getting my full attention as of late (which is odd, I sort of only bought my xbox because I had money at the time). But people seem to think that because they love the xbox so much, piracy should NEVER happen on it (ok, fine, that sounded a bit bad. It shouldnt, but it does). How many people in the other console scenes do you see sitting around bitching about piracy. There is almost no legitimate reason to OWN a modchip for a PS2 (I'll use the PS2 for my examples), besides backups. The whole homebrew/dev scene for it is next to nothing. The MAIN reason for modchips on other consoles is almost all about piracy, legitamized with crap about "backing up software". The possible increase in piracy people think is going to happen, wont. Piracy is going to happen irregardless. Modchips already aide this function. This exploit is just a new way to do it. If you think about how much it costs to actually USE these exploits, and for some, the problems that might arise because they are too stupid to actually get the exploit working. Its almost as viable, if not more (cheapmods anyone) to buy a modchip. This whole Jimmy/Johnny thing (I'll just be localized here) mentioned in this thread is already happening. Slightly different then what was actually said (in the example), but it is happening. Most people who own xboxes also own computers. Most of those computer users have the Internet, and a good portion of them have broadband connections. Getting pirated games is already easy. The means to play the games is already easy. I would be surprised if most people who do homebrew stuff for xbox havent been around for other consoles (lets use Sony here again). How many people learned of modchips from word of mouth? Friends (online friends as well)? Its happening, and already is. "Hey man, I just found a modchip for my xbox that cost me 10 bucks! I can download all the games I want!". End rant. |
