| Yes, there is a lot of "it has begun" hyperbole going around, but what's happened with this hack is a bad thing in one major way, and it's a new way. I really don't care if some people want to steal games. Sure, it bothers me that developers lose out on sales, or that generations of people think that stealing is okay as long as they don't get caught, but there's nothing that I can really do about it. What makes me mad is not that someone's going to be running a backup of Unreal Tournament on Xbox Live, what makes me mad is that someone is going to be running a backup of Unreal Tournament with a trainer to give them +invulnerability on Xbox Live. As someone who actually likes to buy a game and play it on Live against others, without fear of cheaters, this is a sad day. Sure, MS will release updates and try to ban cheaters, but it's going to be punch-counterpunch, and I'll never be sure again that I'm not playing against some lame cheater with crazy health. So no, it hasn't "begun." For me, Live has pretty much "ended." |
