yeah well thats the question.. as seen by my name i am Giantnewb so I wouldn't know how to start doing this, but it would be nice.. it would destroy the motto that you don't even have to open your xbox, but you know if i could keep it easily so that my xbox could turn back to "normal" and then have my linux xbox avaliable with a simple HD swap it would make everything lots easier

at http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/ says:

Warning: If Linux is installed this way, and the Xbox loses the time (because it had been unplugged for several hours), it might be impossible to remove Linux for you right now (Linux will always start instead of anything you put into the DVD drive) , but a solution is being worked on right now. (If you have a booting Linux, you can uninstall it by editing the files on C: again, if you only have the default.xbe without a booting Linux, there is currently no way...)

but, I need help... how copy the files to the hdd of my xbox? I connect it to my pc and replace it? or i need to do somethig?
please more info about it...

if your putting a new harddrive in your unmodded xbox, make sure its locked with the same key as your old one, or it wont run

All of the answers to your question are on this site.  Some in the tutorials, some here in the forums.

Let's play a little game.  I'll start with a hint and you'll do a search to find the answer.

Two ways to get files to your HD without a modchip:

1.  HDD swap with PC
2.  007/MechAssault trick with Mega XKey

Enjoy!

U can't lock a diffrent hdd with the same hdd key it won't work...
The xbox generate a hdd key from the eeprom and from data (serial and stuff) from the hdd... so every hdd gopt it own hdd key..

And u can't put your xbxop hdd in another xbox because it use a diffrent eeprom...

I think the main question asked is how do you put the font saves on your hdd with out doing the 007 trick or having a modded box, is that possible or does your box have to be modded to unlock so that you could put the hdd on your pc to add files

I don't really get it but could i do it by something like this..

Using this guide http://www.xbox-scen...cles/pc-hdd.php I could boot up in dos and unlock the hard drive from there i don't really know how but i would need to copy the files onto my c: drive so i could use those for later on another hard drive. I am a Giant Newb and couldn't find a tutorial how to lock back your xbox HD after this, and I still didn't see a method on how to format a hard drive with FATX ( don't even think its possible) So if anybody can go from there, or isn't such a giant news any help would be splendid

Yeah I probably could do it like that, but I was just wondering, or looking to find a way of doing it where you don't need to flash over the xbox bios, and you can go between a "modded" and "unmodded" xbox by just swapping the hard drives. THis problem might just be to big for one giant newb to figure out

You don't need to flash the TSOP with this tutorial, you only follow it to the point where you have copied the needed font files to the xbox, then the exploit should work.

So assume that i got to the part in the tutorial where I am backing up the hard drive and stopped there. Could I use the hard drive backup, and put it onto another hard drive, and from there i could change the files on my new 40 gig xbox hard drive well leaving my old 8.4 gig hard drive that came with the xbox the same as before?

Maybe, but you would have to lock the new drive, which you can't do because you don't know the right key.

How To Use Original Xbox Hdd In Your Pc (v0.2)
Tutorial written by : GTac01

First of all dl the hdd unlocker here.

Then connect your original hdd to your xbox, using Evox, get your hdd password. (in the evolutionx dash go 'system utils' then 'backup' , this will make a directory called "backup" on the C drive of your xbox. "hddinfo.txt" will contain the HD key)
Once you have it, It looks like this:

01:23:45:67:89:AB:CD:EF
01:23:45:67:89:AB:CD:EF
01:23:45:67:00:00:00:00
00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00

rewrite it as followed:

0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF01234567

Yeah delete the last zeroes, and print it out, ull need it.

Now you have to boot DOS (Bootdisk).

Go here for a bootdisk that works with Win98-WinXp.

Once downloaded execute it, enter a Floppy disk in ur computer.
it will make that disk a boot disk.

Then add the files: hdunlock.exe, hdunlock.pas, hddisabl.exe, and hdddisabl.pas to the bootdisk just created.

Now, turn off your computer, set your xbox hdd to SLAVE, install your xbox hdd in your computer.

Turn on your computer with bootdisk inserted, and it will ask you to press a key, then press a key, and you are in A:>

Type in hdunlock and press enter
Select your xbox hdd, and enter your hdd password

it should say DONE

Type in hddisabl
Select oyur xbox hdd, and enter your xbox hdd password

it should say DONE.

Congratulations you have unlocked your xbox hdd for formatting.

Simple way to format it in WinXP:

Now boot to windows
enter "MMC" in RUN
File-->Add/Remove Snap-in
Click on ADD
New window appears double click on Disk Management
New window, click finish
Click on OK
Click on Disk Management(LOCAL)
then right click on disk 1 and select the first option
now right click on the right box next to the Disk 1 Box
Then click on format, and format it the way you want it, select your partition letter and your ready to go.
