So we just put that in a plain text file and rename it as an xbe? Confused... blink.gif

You paste it into an empty file, which effectively becomes a UUEncoded file.  Open it in WinZip and extract the XBE.

Just copy all of that text to a text file in notepad.  Rename the file to have the extension .uue  then open it with winzip.  It will spit out a .001 file.  Open that up with winrar and you should get the final file.  It will be about 7.5 MB.  Now from here you're on your own.  Not sure exactly what to do with it.

After you rename it open it in WinZIp.. extract it to a folder. Then open the file you extracted with WinZip and open it in WinRar. And Extract it again.... Quite easy.

It worked for me. But use winzip, rar complains.

 mad.gif  grr.gif  i did that too and im getting nothing from the 59k uee.

no, either load tehm onto Hd with 007 or mechassault or pull out Hd and put it into a computer.

another question , will this ban me from Live? if M$ fixes this with a Live update , will it changed the files , disablind the exploit or will it disable the exploit and ban me from Live.

well if its one of the older boxes you can use the 007 hack to !loader then pop in ur cd, gee yuo guys just arent thinking that hard, and it seems to me that complex hinted at more releases releatively shortly

The diff is with !loader you need to do that every time you wish to load something new, with this exploit it would load to the hacked one right from the start and allowing you to swap disks and any other thing. Its not the same.

....and then I can make default.xbe w/e I want?

Like put most of my nes, snes, sega, n64 games in the correct folders w/ my fav emus, edit evox.ini to point to f:games, put evox as default.xbe and put the skins folder and evox.ini in there w/ bert and ernie and poof.. I go over to my friends w/ my 007 cd, my mem card load up, and pop this cd in and I'm playing all my fav nes games?

Edit: I'm guessing not.. I didn't read the whole article.  I see it only runs linux which isn't a bad thing still.

Thanks to some of the others posts in this thread I have this working for me.
This is what I did.

Copy all of the text to a text file in Notepad.
Rename the file to the extension .uue then open it with Winzip.
It will spit out a file named UNKNOWN.001.
Open that up with Winrar and you should get a file that is about 7.5 MB.
It will have the filename "UNKNOWN"
Extract it again with Winrar and you obtain a directory name dayX
where you will find these 3 files.

bert.xtf
default.xbe
ernie.xtf

If you have one of the older boxes you can use the 007 hack
to use the Complex exploit !loader to copy the files to the Xbox.

Q4: Is it possible to play "backed-up" games with this?
 
  A4: Yes it is possible to play pirated games by using this vulnerability
      but my proof of concept code will not allow this. You have to change
      the exploit to patch the kernel in memory. This is not very hard and
      I am not going to help you with this.

Q5: Can I go "Live" with this hack?
 
  A5: You have full control over the box with this vulnerability. You can
      modify the exploit to allow XBOX Live playing but this will only
      start a cat & mouse game with M$.

Have you ever heard of Google, or perhaps Yahoo?

this 'magic'  .uue decoding has a life outside of these hacks, the xbox and these forums.   Do a search and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I  can't agree with you more. Geez, 4 pages about decoding a uue and people posting the same thing over and over and over.

You only need Winzip to do this. Here's the link to the orig thread posted by free-x  and here is my post discussing how to extract using Winzip.

I sincerely hope no one ask that it's a different file and "I can't fine the UEs chars".

While everybody is ranting and raving, I got one too.  One thing I am sick of is comments like "This is Gay if you still have to use 007 exploit"  It's not the only one either.  First these hackers have spent alot of time doing this.  If you want it easier then you have two choices.

1. Make your own hack
2. Buy a mod-chip

As for the comment about "why can't we burn it to cd-rw"
Use common sense.  Even if your XBOX by chance could read a cd-rw you think the files would just hop off the cd in the font folder.
