You could get him to put a larger HD in the Xbox. It would be best if he could use a solderless chip. That is what I would use. It takes a few minutes to pop in the chip and format the new drive to retail using Slayer's.
If you don't want him to do that, you could pay for him to install a chip and you install the new drive with Slayer's.
Or, you can softmod the Xbox and use Xboxhdm to build the new drive.
