Come on guys...surely I'm not the only one that has had this problem....I've tried running 007 AUF again so I could try to get the softmod up again, but no luck...

Did you backup/shadow the C/E partitions? May have updated and replaced the files needed to boot into your modded dash.
You may have to hot swap harddrive and sort it out with your pc. Replace the dashboard files and see if it works then etc...
Goodluck.

Since you can still launch originals then launch the game you modded it with (SC, MA, or 007). Then load the linux save again and once you get to the softmod install screen/menu you will have FTP access to fix your dash as needed. What does happen when you try to load the 007 save again?
SID's softmods suck and you shouldn't use them (notice how you never did anything wrong and it just up and stopped working?). I would use SID's and AID's tools to remove the softmod and get back to a retail state and then softmod with Krayzies Ndure v1.1 (+v1.1.1 update kit).
If you have the eeprom, rebuilding with XBOXHDM may be quicker than trying to remove SID's softmod.

I have tried to load 007 again to rerun the exploit (or to at least see what it will do). But the problem with that is that the game can not locate any gamesaves on the hdd. I can't get it to boot any disks that I burn, so I haven't been able to FTP back into it. I have moved since I modded this xbox, and as of yet, have no idea where the original drive for it is. I'll keep playing with it in my spare time...
Also, I seriously doubt the dash was changed due to a retail game being in the drive...that is why I modded the xbox to begin with...my kids are hell on discs, lol. 007 is the only retail game I have that works, and thats only because I keep it put up in a safe spot that the kids can't get to, lol.
Thanks for the suggestions....

Mod edit: this post has no relevance to the problem at hand. There shall be no further discussion as to which softmod is better in this thread. As it stands, Krayzie's installers are the locally supported package on these boards. No disrespect is intended towards the authors of other software packages.

Hmm.......... no original discs, no messing with MS Dash.
try powering on your xbox and press the "back" button constantly and see if your dash shows up (if it's unleash X, it will just load up with no skin).
Other than that, I can't seem to figure out what could be the problem.
You may also try out putting an installer disc of your choice and at the black screen IGR (in game reboot), but don't press "back" button, instead push the "start" button to but cd-rom/dvd-rom.
If none of these work, that it's something that you have to look at internally through xboxhdm's xplorer and the most probable outcome will be a hotswap.

Sorry to interupt but the problem is probably created by the crashing of the fonts. Try setting a kernel specific font and optionally add s.xtf font files.
