ok, i did my first softmod yesterday, and everything went great. then, i attempted to make XBMC the default dashboard and named it xboxdash.xbe. after getting a hard drive error on the next boot, i realized the mistake that i had made. i'm looking for advice on the easiest way to recover.
i have a chipped xbox and a pc that i could put the softmodded hard drive into. would one of those methods take less time or is there an easier way to put my original xboxdash.xbe (currently named xboxdash.xbe.old in my C: drive) back on?
if i put it in the chipped xbox, could i just boot from a disc and rename the dashboard?
if i put it in the pc, what would i need for the pc to be able to read/write to it?
Thanks in advance!

ok, i'm in a bit more trouble than i initially thought
when i put the hard drive in my chipped xbox, it gave me error code 6 and wouldn't let me boot from a disc
i realized that i can't put it in my pc because it is still locked.
what can i do here? again, the only problem is that my dashboard is not xboxdash.xbe anymore
any help would be greatly appreciated

If you didn't get a backup of your softmodded xbox's eeprom then you'll need to hotswap. See Daddy's excellent tutorial here:
