Alright this is going to be my second visit into softmodding, the first one was a success but I wasnt happy with the installer I used (SID). So now it's uninstalled and I'm ready to give it another go. I'm guessing that NDURE installer is the best one right now, right? I want to be able to listen to my music, play imulators (sp?), backup games on a bigger hdd, etc. Last time I wasnt able to connect the xbox to my computer but I have since then acquired two more computers that I think willl work.
So basically what I need is some help with what files I need to download, how to install said files, and how to set up my xbox to run without error. I do have an original splinter cell which is what I used the first time. And yes I have read throught the maze of info that is provided here but I would much rather talk to someone one on one. So if anyone could help me out it would be very much appreciated, thank you in advance.

Download Krazies NDURE installer from xbins (guide to connect to xbins: http://www.xbox-scen...icles/xbins.php ). Then put the save on a memory card via USB (action replay) or FTP it to another modded xbox and copy it to the mem card from the modded xbox (much safer way to do it). Make sure you are copying the save for the game you have (ie: splinter cell, AOF, or Mechassault). Then copy game from mem card to xbox, run game, load hacked gamesave, and Krazies installer will take care of the rest

So what all does this installer come with? I ask because the last one didnt have a way for me to play my music off the hdd and all in all it just looked and acted like crap.
-
ndure comes with a selection of 2 dashboards evo-x or unleash x i picked evo-x then after got ftp access to the xbox and made xbmc my dashboard you can stoure your original games , dvds and music to your hdd
-
ok, my xbox is now softmodded (again) but now I'm having problems with the whole ftp thing. What all do I need in order to ftp? Also, on the modded dashboard it says that my ip is 0.0.0.0, is that right? thanks again
-
so now that I have softmodded this box can I just throw in a game and burn it on the hdd? and how much space does halo 2 take up? thanks
-
Use DVD2Xbox to backup your disks to HDD
Halo2 is about 4.5Gig
The Ip address is probably set to DHCP and you're in need of a fixed IP address... give some more details about your network setup (direct connection through crossover/router/switch etc..)
-
So after I back it up will I be able to play it off of the hdd or is there something else I need to download first? And as far as my network setup goes, I have a crossover and reg. cable and one of those little routers you can get at the game stores so you can play system link games. I can get a reg. router if thats what I need. thanks

DVD2Xbox defaults to using directories E:\Games, F:\Games or G:\Games, which just so happen to be the defaults used by nearly every dashboard out there. So once your game is backed up it should show up in your dashboard games/application list.
If you've got one of those mini-hubs you shouldn't need the cross-over cable (in fact you most likely shouldn't use it). The IP address needs to be set as fixed in both the PC and Xbox. Try the following:
PC:
IP Address 192.168.1.100
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.100
Xbox:
IP Address 192.168.1.101
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.101
Ensure both are set to fixed, and if your using Evox SAVE the settings (it's at the end of the settings menu)

Thanks, i've got the network set up and I have installed XBMC onto my xbox. Now is there any way to play the music that I already have on my hdd with xbmc? Also, im guessing if I want a diff. skin I just copy it into the skin directory, right? I was wanting the one that looks like the 360 dashboard, what is it called? thanks for being so patient with me
-
Theres a shortcut in your music browser within XBMC (I think it's called MS Soundtracks).
The skin you're looking for is Blackbolts MC360.. do a quick google and it will show up... it something like blackbolt.x-scene.com
-
ok, now I've got Blackbolts MC360 and somewhat figured out how to use emulators. Thanks for sticking with me thus far. Now what I need to do is get xlink working, I can ftp with one of my computers but not the one thats got the internet cause I can't change the IP on it without me not being able to get online. What do I do in this situation? thanks so much I would never have been able to get this far without your help

On the PC with the internet open up an MSDOS/CMD Prompt and type in Ipconfig & press return. This will list your PC's IP/Mask/Gateway, try and put your Xbox in the same subnet and ip ranges as the PC.
For example if ipconfig comes back with :
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
Then make your xbox IP: 192.168.1.200 (Chose 200 to keep away from assigned IP's by the router) & Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
If you can now ping the Xbox from the command prompt (Ping 192.168.1.200 in the example given) then you have connectivity.
Unfortunately you'll now need to learn a bit more about your router and portforwarding to get xlink going good, check out www.portforward.com for help, and the xlink forums (Here and on xlink)
