Title: Just Modded Last Night, Have A Few Q's
Post by: Sp3eD on May 02, 2006, 01:20:00 PM
Last night I modded my box with the Splinter Cell "Linux" save hack using the Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.rar. (which I found out this morning browsing this site that it probably wasn't the best way to do it, but anyway...)

Got everything up and going (with the EvoX dash in-cluded in the package.), but when I scroll through the menu on the EvoX dash it always bypasses "MS Dashboard" option.

The reason I want to get into the MS dashboard is for 2 reasons A) I need to get into the save files directory and thin my saves out (as I am trying to use a larger harddrive and my linux.iso file for xboxhdm is upwards of 2 gigs that can't fit it on a CD.) and (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I need to get into the video settings and change my dash to support 480p, 720p, and 1080i along with 5.1 and DTS (none of which I see in the EvoX dash.).  Xbox Live on this system is not needed if that makes it any easier.

I was looking through my backups of all my C:, E:, and Eeprom, and noticed that I have folders that say what appears to be backups of my original MS Xbox dash.

So my questions are:

1)  Is there anyway to get that MS Dashboard option working in EvoX (or at the very least put the orginal Dash as an "Application" that I can select when I want)?  If so, is this a usual place type thing to get the dash or will one of my backup folders have all the needed files?

2)  I have heard this way of modding was kind of a dud so if needbe, can I get everything back to how my Xbox was before I did anything and start from scratch on a different softmod?

I know this stuff has been answered like a billion times, but I did google searching, and forum searching for about 4 hours and found nothing that would directly help me so bear with me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Thank you for your time.

I think you re-run the game exploit and choose the patch MS dash option.

NOTE: that installer sucks ballz, so I would get the eeprom.bin backup on my PC A.s.a.p.

Already have the C:, E:, and Eeprom.bin files on my PC (as that one of the steps to doing the linux.iso)

So what would my next course of action be in getting rid of this softmod and starting over?

Also what softmod would you recommend?  (Ndure 1.1 seems to be the most popular on here)

Ok found a couple tutorials that tell me how to uninstall.  Hopefully everything will work out, I can get Ndure 1.1 on there ,and have it go a lot better then last night.  I don't think I am ready for another 6 hour session of frustration :lol

Thank you guys for your help.
