Title: Hard Drive Upgrade
Post by: nstern2 on May 01, 2006, 04:24:00 PM
I have an old 40 gig hard drive sitting next to me and I was wondering if I can just pop that into my soft modded xbox and add on to the current xbox hard drive.  Could I do it like a regular computer with a master and slave setup or do I need a special hard drive that is compatable with the xbox?

With just a softmod you'll need to use Xboxhdm, and if you use xbox live, you'll need a new eeprom and check to see if the hdd is lockable.

You cant set up a slave and master like a regular computer. You can put in two hdds with a little hardware modification and throw in some extra cables and a switch, but thats just a mess and waste of time unless you really have a purpose for it. and i dont see why you would want to do that.

You can just upgrade with your 40 GB hdd. If you plan on using live, just get a new eeprom(about 6 bucks)

If you have questons, search and read, then post. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Why upgrade your eeprom for xboxlive? --> Marriage Theory

If your gamertag is flagged, you can still use it, but you must be using a stock hdd.

When your gamertag is flagged, they keep an eye on the size of your hdd. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)
