Title: Broken Controller? Help!
Post by: Wireless Geek on April 15, 2006, 07:39:00 PM
It's possible the USB controller board became dislodged if you have one in your box.  Try reseating it.  You may not have one depending on the version of the mainboard you have.  It's the board that all your controller ports plugs into.

You'll need to open it.  It might not even be your problem.  Some boxes don't have them.  Do you know what version you have by the serial number?

You will have the controller board then. You have to open up the xbox, unscrew the dvd/hard-drive caddy and lift that out. Then you'll see a small board just behind the controller ports which connects to the motherboard. Make sure it's seated in properly and see if that cures the problem.

I had to buy a daughter board for a ver 1.0 because ports 3 and 4 didn't work. It cost me a £10.00 including delivery, and I still have the old one (it has one of the little electronic thingys hanging off, but is way to teeny for me to even consider trying to repair) but ports 1 and 2 work fine.  (if you live in the UK, you can have it).

btw.. this is kind of the wrong section for this.

btw2 ... have you tried you're controllers in ports 3 or 4, they may be OK.
