Title: I Want To Softmod My Xbox...how?

Hey everybody...just want to say this is a great site...etc...etc...

I have a completely default Xbox that I would like to softmod...I have a few questions and concerns...

Please stay on topic...

1.  I know I have to use a gamesave exploit, but once I use a gamesave exploit I absolutely have to put on a new dash, correct?  Or can I just use a dashboard exploit without a gamesave exploit?  If so, how do I gain access to the dashboard files so I can replace them with modded files?  I definitely do not want to rip apart my Xbox and hotswap hard drives.  Also, what is EvoX?  Is that a new dash or just a means to open the Xbox to FTPing?

2.  I'm pretty sure I have to downgrade since I will be using UDE or UDE2.  Those sound the simplest and safest.  I have dash version 5960 and kernel version 3944.  How do I go about downgrading?  I couldn't really find the info on the forums that I was looking for.

3.  I would like to use Xbox Media Center as my default dash.  How do I go about this?

4.  I would like to use Xlink Kai directly from Media Center. Will I only see available games (Halo 2), or will they actually come up in the actual game?  Just to clarify, I also have to run the engine on my PC, correct?

That's pretty much all I want to do.  I want my Xbox to be more functional so I want to do the above listed things.  Can anyone help a fellow gamer out?

1. Use Krayzie's Ndure Game Save Exploits.  007, MechAssault, or SC.  Either is fine.  It is all done for you, no manual installation required.  EvoX is a replacement dashboard, so is UnleashX.  You can choose either in the installer, but personally, I prefer UnleashX.  EvoX is just very boring.

2. UDE is out dated.  Ndure is the latest exploit.

3. Once the softmod is installed, delete the contents of E:\dashboard\ and put all the XMC files in there.

4. Try the X-Kai forum.

2. UDE is way old, use either uxe or ndure. theyre both just as simple.

4. yes you do need the engine running, you change settings so its only the engine.
