I have recently softmodded an xbox. After a while I turned it off and went to bed. Next day I turn it on and greated with an error 13 message and when trying to play a game, an Error 22. So I decided to swap with XboxHDM and installed a fresh copy of the MS Dash. However, now I get a new error, error 16 which involves the Xbox clock. I heard hotswapping fixed it but now it won't do anything. Should I try hotswapping again or is this just screwed? BTW its an old Xbox v1.0 incase needed.
-
error 16 COULD be a clockloop. it could also be other files having to do with the dashboard which made it not be able to load. hotswapping will fix this.
-
I got from somewhere else that this may be a clock loop and that the only way is to have another modded xbox to fix this. I wanted to know if it was possible to still save this with the PC by hotswaping without having another modded xbox.
EDIT: Also, should I put Avalaunch as the Dash instead of the normal MS one?
-
you can hotswap with a pc to save your xbox. put STOCK C files on your xboxhdm cd. after you rebuild the C drive, resoftmod your xbox.
-
I've already tried, still same old error. Is there a place I can find the MS Dash that will fixt his? Because maybe I have a curropt one. Is it at the "ussual place" (One over IRC) or somewhere a lot harder?
-
no it's not at xbins. you're going to have to download a slayers disc and extract the files from there. i think its in system/all/C or something like that.
-
Alright thanks, you sure that error 16 might be a problem unsolvable? I just want to make sure all the errors 16 can be.
-
yes you can fix an error 16 with hotswapping
-
Ok,when I use the Locking tool, when I unlock it, this shows up:
Security Supported: Yes
Security Enabled: No
Sec. locked: No
Sec. Frozen: No
Sec. count expired: No
Now when locked:
Security Supported: Yes
Security Enabled: Yes
Sec. locked: No
Sec. Frozen: No
Sec. count expired: No
Does this mean it is locked? cause Sec. Locked isn't enabled.

Sorry for double posting but can't find the edit button.
Anyways, its still showign an Error 16! I am afraid somehow my xbox HD is just screwed somehow. I have done this 3 times and still this shows up. I will try to take pictures to see whats wrong.
-
give me a sem-detailed breakdown if the steps you're taking to rebuild your C drive.
-
Alright:
1. Turn on PC
2. Open BIOS and boot CD first
3. Insert XboxHDM
4. Restart and freeze to the Blue Screen when first started
5. Connect HD of the xbox to the PC by the same cable used to connect the PC Main HD
6. Continue Booting
7. Use option 3 and unlock HD with the EEPROM Backup I have
8. Restart
9. Back at the XboxHDM screen choose Option one
10. Now when I am presented with 8 options of what to do with the HD
11. I choose first the option to erase it and erased it like 3 times
12. Back at the main screen, I choose option 1 which starts from scratch.
13. Restart PC
14. Now back to XboxHDM I use option 3 and lock HD with my EERPOM back.
15. Turn off Xbox than PC.
16. Reconnect them both back to normal
17. Get the Error 16 again
-
you did everything right up until step 12. choose to rebuild C drive instead. after thats done with, relock your HDD.
-
So instead of from scratch Rebuild C? Alright will try
-
Failed I still get an error 16
. I don't understand it. Supposibly this should be fixed but it isn't....BTW the LED blinks green/red.
I just don't understand, hotswap did nothing....
I must be one of thoughs unlucky ones thats just screwd to hell.
-
sigh...
where did you get your stock C files?
-
Slayers Final.
Someone told me that to fix the problem, I can use the UXE hack, is this true? Also, could this be a problem with the HD or Xbox itself?
-
Slayers 2.6?
Older versions have stock MS dashboards that don't work with the latest retail Bioses.
-
I used 2.6, which I believe is the latest, yet I have no success. DO you think the Exploit might fix this problem?
-
Error 16 is a Dashboard error.
If you have the latest slayers and you've completely wiped the C:\ drive and replaced it with the files from System\C on Slayers, then your problem may be on the E:\ drive.
You should have E:\CACHE, E:\UDATA, E:\TDATA on this drive, I think Slayers has a blank E Drive set of files, rename your existing directories on E:\ and copy in the fresh ones from Slayers.
Once you've done all this you should be back to stock and it should boot the MSDash without errors, if you have an exploitable Game (007/MS/SC), then take the correct Krayzie nDure set of files an put them into E:\UDATA\, if not then look for the nDure for PC setup to make a set of C: & E: drive files to get the exploit running.
Just make sure you can get back to stock first, or the installers/exploits will run into problems.
-
Should there be anything in those folders?
EDIT: Also I forgot to mention, the "MS" sign at the bottom never shows up. Is that bad?
-
EDIT: Sorry double post, can't find edit button.
Anyways I gave up swaping. I was wondering, is this problem solvable through a modchip? Because I am planning for one..but I want to know if it can be solved with it...
-
Edit: This is my third post and I am so sorry, I have found the problem and just have a question. After answered this can be locked and used as an archive for future people having similar problems.
Anyways, after extensive testing, I have found out it is the HD itself. Its dead. Now the computer won't even find it. But I don't mind. I always wanted a bigger HD anyways. Anyways all I need to know is I just have to know is any HD will work as long as it supports ATA Locking right?
Once again I am very sorry for the triple post...but I just one to let Neilor and misterhoangdai know the problem has been found out. Anyways All I need is an HD that supports ATA Locking right? Going to Best Buy soon and I just need to know.
-
yeah. just make sure its ata and lockable. you have your eeprom/hdd key right? it won't work unless it's locked to your xbox. either that or you're going to have to get a chip to work an unlocked HDD.
i highly recommend checking out newegg.com or outpost for cheap harddrives.

, when you get sorted you should try unlocking the original and formatting in your PC, it might come in handy for extra storage (I have two stock drives in one of my PC's
)
