ok, i got banned from xbl for 2days so i decided i would play mechassault because i hadnt ever played it, just used it for the Linux. then, i went onto xbl through mechassault to see if i was still banned and i downloaded the update without thinking. now my linux wont work, is there anything i can do without having to buy action replay?

so, are you currently in a modded or an unmodded state? if you are modded, delete the savegame and FTP it over again. If you are unmodded, have a look, if there's an option in the M$-Dash Savegamebrwoser to delete the autoupdate.

thanx for ur attempted help, but i think i kno wat to do now cuz i read another post. im gunna take the linux off onto a memory card(once i buy one) then delete the entire mechassault save. i will then put the linux back on there. do u think this will work?

can someone plz post if u think this would work, i would like to kno b4 i go out and buy a memory card.

I doubt this would work. You have to know how that sutff works.
You got 2 savegames on your HD, that have to do with your softmod. One is the linux profile for your Mechassault game (very small save, will show up under "Mechassault" in the savebrowser), and one is the "linux Installer" savegame, which actually contains the EvoX xbe's and the whole stuff.
When you downloaded that update for mechassault, you received a new default.xbe, which got downloaded into your "Mechassault" Savegame. This default.xbe is causing you the problems.
To execute the softmod, you need to have both savegames located on your harddrive. However, If you would copy over the Mechassault savegame onto your memory unit, I assume you would also copy over the default.xbe which is causing you the problems.

so i guess i will just have to delete everything and transfer it back over using action replay, which i still have to buy.

ok, i thought about it some more and my xbox is already modded so i dont need the installer. so y would it matter if i deleted the entire mechassault gamesave? i will put the "run linux" gamesave on a memory card and delete the entire mechassault save. then i will put the linux back on there. do u think this will work???

If you used krayzies uxe installer than you will notice the block size of the mechassault game save is bigger. That is because once u do a softmod the gamesave is no longer the same. It now contains the information of the softmod. So if you just replace that game save with another one your xbox will not remember in essence if it has been softmodded or not.

so wat all do u think i need? do u think i just need to do the whole softmod over again? if so do i need a memory card or just action replay??

1.) I would suggest restoring your xbox back to retail and then doing the softmod over
2.) Well what I did was just ftp the gamesave file to my friends xbox which was already modded and then used the memory function in the M$ dashboard of his xbox to copy that mechassault gamesave over to my memory card. I then copied that gamesave from my memory card to my ummodded xbox and ran the installer. If u don't have an already modded xbox to transfer the save than I would go with the action replay so then u could just transfer the gamesave directly from your computer to your xbox and run the installer.

c, now thats the thing, i do have a modded xbox but i cant run the mod because of the messed up linux gamesave. im hoping that i have the same ip address as b4 and the tomorrow i will just try ftping the files. if this works then do u kno wat i should delete to get rid of the mechassault update? i would rather try as much as i can without having to buy action replay.

How did u originally get the gamesave on your xbox?

ikecomp, do u possibly hav aim, it would b much easier to talk that way. i got the gamesave onto it at my friend's house but unfortunately, he is on a roadtrip for three weeks and cant really help me. he may b able to help me from a hotel comp, but it isnt likely. that is y i am seeking help on here.

So, currently your xbox is softmodded, is it? You are booting to UnleashX or EvoX? If so, just delete the savegame of your HDD. If that's done, just FTP to your xbox, and copy the original krayzie`s (or whatever) Savegame to your HD (in the UDATA folder located on E:)

i boot to the MS dash, so i have no way to ftp. is there anyway i can change this, i havent found n e.

I suggest u get a memory card or action replay because the only other way I can think of for u to mod ur xbox without the gamesave or chip is with hotswap and you should only do that if u know what u r doing or u have no other choice.
EDIT: While u r in an unmodded state go into the memory function of your xbox and delete all the old mechassault saves if there r any.

1. Delete other mechassault game saves
2. Get an ar
3. Transfer the krayzie mechassault game save to it and then transfer it to ur xbox through the use of the memory function.
4. Install the mod

so if i get AR, i dont need to buy a memory card right??

k, i thought it came with one, just wanted to make sure. are u positive it will work cuz ive been reading posts saying new AR arent working.

Some people say the newest action replays work. But they usually suggest replacing the memory card that comes with the ar with a M$ one or mad catz.

no no, doesnt work. Go to ebay or gamestop, and buy and 8mb action replay, works like a charm and doesnt corrupt the save. or try codejunkies.com, i dont think they will have it...but try ebay.com and gamestop.
