Title: The Right Way To Uninstall
Post by: Northwings on June 23, 2005, 12:57:00 AM
Okay I'm getting a new xbox (said I'd give gutiar lessons to my friend for a year) Lol, and I'm going to softmod it again, but so I don't make the same mistake what is the RIGHT way to uninstall the softmod using Krayzie's uninstaller, and the RIGHT way to use the duel boot function. Thanks a lot

This didn't work for me. I'm trying to uninstall the Krayzie's MechAssault softmod, but to no avail. When I load up the MechAssault gamesave, I only have the options that I did when I first softmodded. What should I do?

Load the game save, ftp to your Xbox delete everything in E and C. Then copy your backed up C files back to the C partition. If that doesn't work just use XboxHDM to make the HDD retail again.

You have backed up all of your file, have you? Tell me that you have. :grr:

No, no I haven't. =p
What if I just go to the MS Dash the Memory then delete the Unleash Gamesaves?
Would that bring me back to stock state?

Neh, that won't help. Get the SlaYer disc and copy the C files from there.

I fixed it myself.
In a folder in Udata I switched the file names confige3.ini to config.ini.
My MechAssuault gamesave was loading config.ini when ran. (Config.ini for me was the nkpacther screen.) So since I renamed them, I actually got the gamesave to run config3e.ini(now renamed to config.ini) which was the turn softmod on/off, remove softmod, etc...
I see that this way of softmodding is almost impossible to screw up, but inevitably, there's always a way.
However, excellent installer Krayzie. Thanks for your time and effort put into this installer
