why not just pop in slayer's (newest) select format C and E then select install msdash. Also it could be helpfull to first ftp in the installer's save so you wouldn't have to copy it afterwards.
edit: It may be wise to first backup your tdata and udata folder along with possible apps/emus you might have on E:

Chiming in....
If your XBOX is already modded - and assuming your after-market Dash supports FTP (like Evox), don't bother restoring your HDD to factory settings and using an installer. Simply use UXE-complete and FTP the files directly onto C:\.
My 2p.

yeah your theory is right. If you don't touch F there will be nothing lost. Just wanted to say that was Pedro was sugesting has very little to do with installing manually. It just as simple as using a gamesave installer but you are right in the fact that it will not allow you to acces your msdash and/or switch back to retail.

There is no difference between UDE2 and UXE.. just make a nkpatcher, rename it to default.xbe and and sign it with -habibi key..
or you can also copy any gamesave package.. like Kraziye's pack.. then browse to E:\ drive UDATA.. find teh save file and execute the .xbe in the save file.. this way.. u wont need any game to make the autoinstaller work..
