this might sound kinda noobish... but it has me scratchin my head :/
heres my situation in a nutshell.. im replacing my stock hdd with a bigger one and right now im trying to use liveinfo to get the key using my backed up eeprom. anyways the problem lies here.. i have the hdd i want to use on my secondary ide channel and my os disk is on primary.. and im trying to use liveinfo to get the disk info but all "IDE Device" fields return no devices.. everything is blank.. does the drive need to be formatted or am i doing this whole proceedure completely wrong ?
thanks so much for your help guys.. any help i get will be dumped right back into the learning community :)
(for clearity reasons, im using this tutorial http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act=ST&f=45&t=106123 and im stuck on step 7)
thanks again guys.. look forward to hearing from you

pls... can someone point me into the right direction as to why my physical drives in liveinfo are all showing up blank ? im running windows xp pro /w an NTFS file system.. i heard you cant use liveinfo under ntfs.. but i dont see that being possible..
can someone please help me out.. thx

You are trying to calculate the password for the new drive correct? I believe the drive has to be setup first (formatted). NTSF does work fine with it.

that isn't true, when i've ran liveinfo in the past it detected all my drives straight away, so both my pc drive and a not yet formatted xbox drive was detected. so it might have something to do with making sure that one drive is set to master and the other secondary. if not then don't use liveinfo, in my experience liveinfo along with dos unlocking tools like unlockx is rubbish, don't use that tutorial, use this one instead
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=244043
it uses a program called xboxhdm (yes its linux based, but don't be scared, i can't use linux!)
i found unlockx and similar programs to be rubbish, they didn't lock my drives properly so i kept getting error 6's. and don't use windows based fatx tools (i.e. hdd driver), they are also rubbish, they don't always copy drive contents identically.
if you need any help using xboxhdm (if you decide to use it) then PM me and i'll give you all the help you need.

Well hdunlock works just fine. It does not cause errors.
