k well then i put the files on the E:/ drive under bios, loaded up the xmbc while it was still on, launched the default.xbe in the folder with the other stuff, the screen went black, rebooted, and then it was as if nothing had happened, no igr, and no 160 gig hdd support, what would i be doing wrong, i have a softmodded 1.6 using the ude2 exploit

There really is no reason to replace the bios on a v1-5 Xbox, besides changing the LED color. This tutorial is mainly for the 1.6's running the lTools package. The UDE2 comes with a metoo bios that has a really bad IGR function, such as both Triggers and both Analog sticks. This gets real annoying when playing Halo or some other games. So that is why I set out to find a new bios that has a different IGR.

Now, you SHOULD be able to use this bios on the v1-5 xbox's. I haven't heard of a problem yet.

ok. well I figured out what I had done wrong.

I changed the path of the first dashboard too

c\fonts\dashboard\default

and it loaded right up.

Problem. the contents of the c drive are difrent. Is this using a shdow drive space or what? Whats the deal here?

good info, but i wish i would have had that about 3 months ago...lol
but the  main thing is that people are addressing this issue finaly,  i stumbled my way out of this one about a month ago...i think the older m8 bios had this bug the x2-4981 didnt but wouldnt let you use a single partition above 137gb. so i went with the buged igr  then i learned that the x2-4981 would allow a bigger hd, you just had to also use "g" to get the rest of my hard drive space!! then came along 1.6 and 1.6b where the m8 bios had some issue with video output so back to x2-4981. with the damn iggr problem but then comes m8...this one takes care of all BUT you still have to use g on bigger drives...unless i am doing something wrong, in wich case i hope that i am!!!

seriusly though. Where does the directory stucture I get after runiing metoo come from. How can I edit it. Is there any way to gain access to the files in my normal directory structure. Is this normal? is metoo supossed to replace the bios so when I reboot my box it loads that bios instead? If not, is there a way to actualy replace the bios on a stock hard ware xbox?

That's what happens when you dig-up old tutorials... this is for days gone by, prior to NKPatcher, nDure etc... Softmods generally don't use Bios loaders mutch these days... they patch the retail bios to give it the hacked bios features.

If you want to modify the bios behaviour, igr etc... then look into downloading the NKPatcher sourcecode, the config file is fairly self explanatory.
