Well so far Crimson Skies is the only one. But who knows how many games will have new media checks in the near future.
As far as slowness....Well it does take a bit longer to boot but that's about it.
Unstable is a big one. Any number of things can go wrong with the hacks that will totaly fuck your box. With a chip after it's in your box is pretty much bullet proof. Like lets say some how your entire C drive gets deleted. No prob. Just pop in slayers and reinstall. If something of that nature were to happen using any of the hacks you would have to end up getting a chip to fix it.
I have hacked about 3 boxes. Using your guides the first time no less. On my new box I decided to give a chip a shot. Now having used both the hacks and chips I have to side with chips. They are faster safer and way less of a pain in the ass to use.

of course dude, modchips are always more stable than non modchip solutions, but i havent had any problems with the stuff ive used, of course after getting some bad fonts, ive been cautious when updating everything

Yah...sure it does.
Because you can have multi bios banks, go on live, or reflash it in under 30 secs with new bios.
The Tsop is fine but don't pretend it's something it's not.

No, you can't have multiple banks with the TSOP, but I've never needed them. My TSOP has X2 4977 on it and I've never had a problem with any of my backups or anything else I've run on the box.
I can't go on Live and I don't care. This IS one of the things to consider before doing a TSOP flash, though.
Under 30 secs? <shrug> It doesn't take a whole lot longer than that for me to boot Linux from EvoX and run raincoat if I want to re-flash my TSOP. But really - how often is someone going to want to do this? I've only re-flashed mine once (to disable flubber).
TSOP gives you everything that a chip gives you (except for the ability to get on Live) for free. I think it's definitely more work to do the TSOP flash but if cost is your main concern then you can't beat free.
Soft-mod is the suck. I only use it as a temporary mod long enough to boot Linux and run raincoat.

I run a exploit now, but I plan on flashing my TSOP... it's free (or ALMOST) I got a USB stick free after rebate and made my cables for free from a free extension cable (actually made the xbox 2 pc one also out of it!) Yeah I bought 007 BUT it was only 15 bucks and I COULD have rented it... BUT in the long run it was better to buy, I can do more boxes for FREE now and because I use the audio exploit I have fucked up my ST.db file several times (all user error but it is a downside) and SOME exploits like audio are slower so that was acurate... as for as game issues even if that was inaccurate there is a fact that is nearly the same but left out, with the audio hack you can't do custom soundtracks ...doesn't matter to me but some it does so it IS a down side for the record. and let's not even start to talk about the headache of the clock loop for fonts (which is why I use the "slower" audio hack.
So no matter how you slice it there are certain FACTS that pretty much leave it up to the end user which was the point of the original post!
Exploits are the cheapest way to do both live and modded but CAN be a headache and/or more time consuming. TSOP is down right the cheapest most stable way to go BUT you can't do LIVE. Chips are the best of both worlds you get it all, but for a price!
So you pick your battles and choose your poison but NONE of them are the BEST for everyone so stop shoving YOUR opinion down each other's throats!

I disagree, there are safeguards one can take to recover from a loss (even complete loss) of data on C and E, even with a Soft-Mod. The important thing to remember though, for any soft-modder; know exactly what you're doing before you do it and the possible problems that may result.
