Post by: goodfella on December 31, 2003, 07:45:00 AM
i'm assuming jordanus, is getting the same error i'm getting. "error writing the save" or the other one i get not as often, is "the usb device failed to enumerate" thats not as often as the other message though.

Yeah that would be a problem with the actual hardware - and that has nothing to do with this tutorial. Probably a bad driver install or a fried memory card...or the USB cable's bad. Never know.

Hello All.

I'm in the same boat as the last guy.  No saves I've tried work, but the zip data all appears to be fine.  I've tried both "power saves" & community files.  No luck.

Thoughts?  Ideas?

I'd be happy to email the zips if someone else wants to give them a try or look at them.  Maybe I got a bad reader?  Card?  I even installed XBOXAR_USsetup1_31 (newest version) from the site in case my install CD was flaky.

Thanks!
Dave

I also followed this tut perfectly 100% and I still get the invalid game save.

I've said this like 9 times already, yet noone seems to listen to me even while I have an Action Replay and I need to do this. The problem is the FATX filesystem would get corrupted, so the Action Replay system does a few simple checks, however when you think, they don't do much.

If you get an "Invalid save error" what you need to do is unzip the file to a temporary folder. Then, make sure all thats in there is a UDATA folder (No readme's etc.). Inside the UDATA folder make sure there's only a folder with numbers (This is the game's personal savespace). In that folder, there should be only one folder with a few numbers, and possibly SaveMeta, SaveImage, TitleMeta, or TitleImage XBX. After that, the folder with numbers can usually contain anything.

Those XBX files are so the Xbox saves manager can display the little images and names of the saves. Note: Somehow you can edit these image files. I got a save off the net once and instead of the Halo logo it was a naked chick  biggrin.gif  .

Other than that, thats it! Zip the UDATA folder and drag and drop into the middle window of the Action Replay software. It should detect it and accept it as a save, ready for transfers.

In this folder 'anything goes' as it isn't checked. Make sure it contains a SaveMeta.xbx or it might cause problems though.

(Bumpy)

Trust me, this is how you do it. I'm sick of people pussy-footing around yet these checks are so damn simple wink.gif...

Wow, I managed to make a tutorial that made X-S!

As for you, Jordanus, sorry for the extra-late reply. I thought people actually stopped caring, besides I lost the file in hundreds of other posts.

What error are you getting exactly? Most likely the file isn't zipped correctly, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: Err, I'm a moron. He's banned.
