If you have successfully flashed a chip on a non 1.6 board with a m8_16 bios with no corruption of the motherboard or psu, please post.  Thanks!  The concerns can be read on the pinned topic above about modding 1.6 boards with cheapmods.

I was able to run m8 1.6 on my 1.2 on a smartxx, but I only let it boot to the flubber and then turned it off again. I just wanted to verify that the bios actually boots for another thread. no damage at that point, but I still wouldn't risk running it over a longer period of time.

Hmm, thanks for the comment.  Well boys be carefull flashing boxes with this bios because i just had a buddy that had the same experience as me and now his 1.4 board is a nice lookin peice of shit.  That box was however hit by lightning via the network so take that with a grain.  Funny thing is it never showed ill effects till he flashed his chip with that bios.  Again, he never booted to that bios!  Only flashed the chip to put in another box!!  Fucking odd shit.   :uhh:

just flashing can't cause damage.. you could flash a porn pic to the chip and it wouldn't harm the chip.. the data you flash is just plain data with no effect whatsoever on the chip itself.

Right, i know that.  Im talking about the board not the chip.  But ya it still doesnt make any sense.  Im thinking that these are all just coincidences but damn its strange.  3 people fubaring boxes in one way or another who do this all the time.  Running that bios on a non 1.6 board can incorrectly initialize hardware and corrupt the board in theory, but im just talking about flashing via hotswap, then removing the chip.  The more I discuss this it seems retarded that just flashing could fuck one up.  Gotta be a bunch of coincidences.
