Once you enabled ICS you can set static ip = no in your evox.ini. Did you do that? As far as disabling the card, you can just right click on it and select disable if you are using windows xp. Some people won't find it annoying though and don't mind seeing the disconnect icon in their taskbar. Plus I'd have to tell people how to disable it in windows xp, 2000, ME, 98, etc. and then I'd have to tell them how to enable it again if they wanted to use that nic...

Thanks for the great guide, just wanted to let you know on my version of XP when I configured my tcp/ip connection there was a tab for alternative configuration which made it alot easier when working with one network card. I left the general tab alone and put all my xbox info in the alternative tab, now when Im hooked to my xbox it looks at the general tab first and when it cant connect there it automatically goes to the xbox config. Alot easier than creating bat files. Thanks for all your help. Hope this makes sense

I have an nic would i just put one end of the crossover cable into the xbox and the other end into the nic.
QUOTE
Now on your computer go to the properties of the NIC that has a crossover cable connected to the Xbox. Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then properties. Enter the following: IP Address: 192.168.0.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: <leave blank> DNS: <leave blank>

4. I will not list every baby step involved for how to set things, like every mouse click required. If youre not sure how to do something Ive said to configure, see number 5 below. |

thank you! i've been hoping forever that someone would just post a definitive How-To for networking to the xbox (the tutorials suck) and this looks like a good start. keep up the good work

I had considered putting in baby-steps but where does that end? its slightly different for win2k, win98, winxp, mac... etc. Do i post the baby steps for every OS or just winxp... either way i think its best if they just use google to figure that part out on their own. I'll endlessly help those who attempt to help themselves and put forth effort behind it. But people who want to be fed every drop of info don't deserve it in my opinion.

Interesting... my ftp transfer keep failing (Dropping to 0) in flashfxp. I use cuteftp also but its a lot slower but usually works but waiting 2+ hours to transfer a 3 gb game is ridiculous. What settings should my nic card have? I have 2 nics in my pc with a crossover cable running to my xbox. Should i have it at 100 base tx full dupleX?
QUOTE (TheCreepster @ Oct 5 2003, 08:19 AM)
I might be being dumb but here goes anyway. My Xbox is connected to my PC through a modem router. I have set static IP to yes as per tut and have the IP 10.0.0.2 which I have successfully pinged. Now when I open flashfxp is where I get a bit lost. In the right hand box I click the lightning and then quick connect. In the server or URL box I put the XBox IP only and then click connect. Is this correct and if yes then why does it not find the connection (it says timeout)? Any help much appreciated.

I was woundering if you could help me out please! I got my xbox modded and Evox installed by a bloke at a computer fair, so I didnt do it by myself using a network cable. Im trying to network the xbox with the chip (X-Ecuter 2.2) and copy of evox (V1.8.3752) and Im having difficulty! Im getting very frustrated as Ive tried so many methods and I understand how ips work etc. I cant get the xbox past the stage of realising its connected with a computer I have an Ethernet MAC Address, but it says No Link thus I have no ip being received by the xbox! Im using an ethernet adaptor port (which is connected to the motherboard) and a crossover RJ45 cable into the back of xbox. I have had the cable tested and it works a ok. Tho the LAN connection settings on the PC says "Network Cable Unplugged" and as I said the xbox doesnt even realise its plugged in "No Link!" Unfortunatly thats as far as I've got and Im woundering what exactly Im doing wrong and debating whether or not I need 2 re instal Evox or if its something to do with the pc! Please can you help me thanks very much
