For months I had a Softmod, and was happy with it. I started to post and read alot of stuff here, and got the bug to mod my box even more. So I got a 15watt iron from radio shack, some .022 solder, desoldering braid and a old sound card to practice on.
So after about 20+ practices of joining points on the sound card, I was confident to do the real thing on my xbox.
It went perfectly! My 1st joint was nice and smooth, the 2nd on the underside had a tiny lil fin/point. Put back my xbox, and loaded 007 installer ... and BAM TSOP'ed!
Booted with Xecuter2 logo and everything! But soon after that it hung, and I realized my softmod was still installed. So I loaded my MA game, uninstalled Krazies Ndure1.1, rebooted, and BYAAAH!! It works!!

Yeah, soldering isn't too hard, but sometimes I can't get the two points to stick to each other. The solder just sticks to my iron. It pisses me off. Eventually I get it, but it's really annoying at first.

Yeah I have the same problem... found it works better if you use something to kind of hold the solder in place, like a safety pin, but sometime the pin gets stuck in the solder...
And, yeah, very funny caster!

My new Radio Shack 15watt Iron was great to use, heated it up, fluxed the tip, wiped it alil, tinned it with a lil drop of solder, connected the 2 teeny tiny points!
When I was practicing on the sound card, fluxing the points/area to be joined made it harder to join them. The solder just balled around the spot and didnt want to stretch over to the other spot. So i just cleaned my xbox with isopropel alcohol, and joined the spots.
