Title: Question About Tsop Flashing
Post by: manxbox44 on December 16, 2004, 01:24:00 PM
i was wondering if you had to keep switching from a 1mb to a 256k each time you wanted to flash a different version of the xbox or will 0.07 raincoat do it for me on its own?

thank you

Raincoat SHOULD fill up the tsop, but I wouldn't risk it, just flash the bios with the proper size.

Nah, Raincoat .7 will make a 256k bios file a 1mb bios when flashing a 1.0/1.1, no problems there.

yep, just make sure you have raincoat .7, since any older version wont fill by default

.7 with a 256k bios will flash any 1.0-1.5

a 1mb bios will only work on a 1.0 or 1.1 (raincoat will only resize up, not down)

ok i have been reading alot of posteds and tutorials for a v1.2-1.5 i need to solder 3 points on the board and some say i only need to solder only two . which one is right and what i use? i'm am also reading that in alot of the version of raincoat that i need to add different commands to the raincoat.conf file. do i need to do all of this or has it all been add to raincoat 0.7? i have also heard that you can use the platinum version of 007 AUF but then some say you have to have the older version of 007 AUF to do it? i would be ever so greatful if someone can answer my question that i have.

thankyou

those are the 2 points you need for 1.2-1.5, top only, no need to take the board out

as for 007, there are actually 3 versions fo the game, original (non platinum), platinum 1, and platinum 2

the original version and platinum 1 work, platinum 2 (newer copies) has been patched so it wont load the hacked save

you will only need to add a command to raincoat .7 if you have an Atmel brand TSOP (i think these showed up on a few 1.4s)

i should just post an updated raincoat.conf for people to use

ok from the looks of the pictures i have seen of already solder points it looks like they just heated up the solder and dipped it in the the to holes of each point and then put some in the middle of the two lil holes or did they heat up the ends of a small piece of soldier and connected the two points?

what i do is a get a small bead of solder on the iron, then touch the bead between the two points, and usually it sticks enough to bridge them, sometimes the points dont cooperate though

i belive those same serial numbers are on the outside of the package, not sure where exactly, but i think the first shipment of the patched (non working) discs had the non-patched serials on the case, so the external ID isnt 100%

007 - all non plat and some plat (scroll up to see version numbers)
MA - older non-plat (i believe only versions without the game of the year badge work) no plat work
SC - all versions AFAIK (newer plats might not)

manxbox44:

I personally prefer conductive ink pen over solder. More precise/less risk involved.

As for your bios version question: I think it only matters if you're using an HD larger than 137 gb...
xxxx.06 creates one big E: partition
xxxx.67 creates E: up to 137gb, and remaining space as F:
(i *think* - pls correct me if i'm wrong, or verify)
