ive never had any luck with the multimeter, it doesnt seem to be an accurate indictor of points being bridged

i just clean off the points with desolder braid and sodler again, had to do it liek 20 times once (it was after midnight and i had no flux, lol)

As someone already mentioned 09 means your solder points aren't bridged. The problem with using a multimeter is your measuring across the solder joint and not the contact points. You would need to measure in a different location along those traces to be effective.

Both raincoat .5 and raincoat .7 will flash that chip the only difference is .7 will auto resize the correct bios for you.

Your best bet is to use solder with no flux. Reason being, flux causes the solder to flow better and will make it harder two bridge to connections.

Yeah, Xokia,

I did measure from two other points along the traces in question.  I *know* there's connectivity (did it from multiple points).  At this point, I'm betting trixy issues with voltage, so I'm going to try multiple solder points for joining the traces.

I've done a lot of xboxes, resolder and all, just never any 1.4s with this TSOP.  This is the singularly worst soldering issue I have run into.

Lots of time people on here *know* their solder connections are good, when they resolder it works.

Interested in knowing though what finally fixes it. Keep us updated.

Check the components near the solder point closest to the TSOP.  If they've been short-circuited or dislodged, you can't flash.

Any luck with getting your xbox tsop flashed?

I am having the same problem. Spent about 4 hours on it with no luck.

I have a 1.4/1.5 with the winbond W49f020T chip. I flashed many tsop using rear window defogger repair kit with no problem and it is usually a snap(30 minute job).

Bridged both the top two points and the bottom point just to make sure. Check with the multimeter and everything looks fine.

Not sure what else to do. I am beginning to believe there is something "special" about this particular model. I searched the forum and found a few people with the same problem. sad.gif

U goys should leave ur already bridged points alone and then use wires and bridge the tsop unlock points again...worked for a few people with this problem...U can either bridge the "alt tsop" points, or just follow from ur already bridged tsop unlock point pads and where the traces end from each and then solder a wire to connect em...I have a pic of exactly what i'm talking about (it's where i use the meter to check for continuity) and you would understand better....Try that, it'll no doubt be bridged then.

If u decide to try this, some of the points u will be soldering to will be vias, please be very careful with ur soldering iron, do no sink the vias or pull up any traces.

I will try to see if someone will host the pix so i can link to em.

Just connect a wire in between the red and black arrows...Also this is where i put my multimeter leads to teast the tsop unlock pads for continuity, never fails.

In the last of those pictures you'll see a black arrow pointing to R7D2.  This resistor must not have any stray solder across it, nor should it be missing.  Either case results in 0x09 errors even with correctly soldered jumpers.

Same goes for R7D9 (near the other jumper point).

Yep that's definitely true, had a guy do just that, but on the 1.0 bottom resistor, solder spanning the entire resostor, he got 09, cleaned it up, boom it worked...

Okay I got raincoat 0.7 correct installed and running. I was using the wrong IPAddress.

FYI I am using 007savewithraincoat_0.5. I updated raincoat to 0.7. The correct IP is 192.168.0.64.

Well the bad news is I am still getting INVALID MANUFACTURER ID: 0x09.

F-THIS!

I think I am going to try out one of the softmods (UXE?).

Any other suggestions?

the resistance measurement you gave seems alittle high. On all the boxes i've done i read 0.00 Ohm's resistance. You shouldnt have .3 or .1 omhs of resistance i think that's ur problem. I'd desolder the bridge and resolder it and see what happens.
