Title: Crystal Console Large Hd
Post by: oyken on May 13, 2004, 09:14:00 AM
Just flashed a 1.4 Crystal Console with a evox M7 Bios. Everything went fine and it works ok with the original HD installed, but it won't allow me to install a new HD. I get a error13 message.

Any Suggestions?

you need to use a slayers disc or other evpox boot cd, make sure the media you burned it on works with your dvd drive

Can't boot from DVD.  The HD is already prepared from another xbox, and on that xbox it works perfectly.

then the bios flashed on your xbox is looking for the dashbaord in a different place than on the other xbox (liek F:\evoxdash.xbe as opposed to C:\evoxdash)

No that's not the problem either. It works on a 1.5 xbox with the same bios.

the drive is already prepared, hence my frustration. Tried everything, but can't get it to work. Wonder if there's something special about the crystal xboxes.

reread what I said. PREPARE IT FROM THAT XBOX. REPREPARE IT.

I have already tried to reprepare it with slayer's evox 2.5 and with NewHDD 1.4. Keep getting the same error. Also tried to backup my original HDD and transfer the files, but with no luck.

Well I've dropped big hard drives into crystal Xboxes flashed with EvoX M7, no problem whatsoever.  Didn't prepare it on a different Xbox, though.

Could it be the dash version?  My install DVD installs Live 2.0.  I don't know if the crystal boxes like older dashboards.

What installDVD are you using? I've heard that the Crystal xbox uses a different kernel.

I had this same problem two days ago (not on a crystal box) but anyway I tried slayers and xdisk 1.01 and neither worked. I then got ahold of unleash-x 1.0 and it worked perfect, you may give that a try.

um, is it locked? and use evox for christs sake.. all these automated bood cds cause problems.. i like the cd taht just partition the drive then you ftp all the files from your pc to the xbox work 100% of the time..

I actually had a similar problem, I don't recall the specific error code though... We had an HD prepared on a dif box, then put it in my box.  Same bios, same version... etc...  For some reason, when we moved the drive back, my box was not happy with the drive jumper settings.  His box liked the drive when set on master.  And mine would only work with the drive on cable select.  I don't know if this is your prob or not, but it's quick, easy, and worth a shot.  Just switch the jumper from master --> cable select, or the other way around.

I use my own.  Once upon a time (about 18 months ago) it was "EvolutionX Install CD 1.2" or something like that.  It's grown a lot since then, with pretty much everything updated to the latest version.  Next issue will have Live 3.0 dash.
