Hehe.
This term always conjoured up images of coating something in enamel, to me... which made it doubly funny.

You taking the mick lar?
Who says I talk funny?
Okay I FINALLY soldered a18 and a19 to 3.3v and it did boot. Restarted it and it went to the xmas tree again. So i really think the TSOP is done. I'm gonna try it again but if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to let me know. I'm running out of options.
just wanna clarify a few things.....
deffo a v 1.0 - fan on top of heatsink & controller daughterboard
what ver slayer/evox ya using to flash?
what bios you flashing on there by chance ?
If it's a ver 1.0 then you should of been able to flash any bios nearly on there
if it was a ver 1.1 and you was using a really old slayer / bios then you could run into problems.....
Evox 2.4 don't work on ver 1.1's if my mem serves right
Older slayer discs may have used the older evox flash that didn't pad say a X2 2981 256kb to a 1mb like the recent evox's do from about 1.8.3752 or something like that
What n where did ya get the bios - the bios on slayer discs are usually quite stable, but there was a moody slayer 2.5 going around
does sound like it's trying to flash a 256kb bios into just the 1st quarter of the 1mb ST - so reconnect the wires but try and get a another slayer/evox disc with a decent working bios on it
best of luck
Hey Pizza...
Wanted to answer your questions...
It is a v1.0. I flashed it with M7. Slayers is the latest release. Unfortunately I don't remember what it was. But I've used it before on other 1.0-1.1 xbox's. I'm really stuck at this point. Kinda weird that it did work soldering a18 and a19 to 3.3 and as soon as I restart it, it doesn't work. I'm going to take it apart again...maybe the solder point came off of 3.3v. I'll try getting over to 5v...gotta find out where that's at again.
Update...
Okay went back to see if it was the solder points and it was still there. Re-did the wiring and it booted up. Cut the wire and re-flashed it again. What's wierd is that I put my other HDD in there from my other XBox and when I try to load a game, it either goes back to EvoX or get a Dirty Disc Error. Not sure what the heck was going on there but I went ahead and ran the Slayer's install. All went well and everything. Booted it back up and now it just sits at the XBox screen. I get the logo but the logo looks all messed up like lines running through it. Get's to the part where it says "M$" and it just sits there. I think it's hosed but what do I know?
Anything else I can do or just get a new board?
