in evox.ini, under the menu section youll see

Item "Flash Bios",ID_Flash_Bios

OR

Item "Flash Bios",@1

just put a # in front of that line to comment it out

#    Item "Flash Bios",ID_Flash_Bios

Ive also found unsoldering the write enable points and installing a momentary pushbutton SPDT switch if you have a multibios tsop, this way it can be set to retail unless you push the button in on boot. Works great so far with my dumb friends, not kids though

This way would be even better if you dont backup games to the HD....Only burn backups to DVDR....Would be to NOT install a dashboard at all.....Just backup all games to DVDR and leave the M$ dash alone....

Just flash and stop......

:)

Then it would be a normal xbox that boots backups....Cant mess up anything then....

Remove the "flash BIOS" option.

Don't install anything that lets you delete files that ought not to be deleted.  That means Avalaunch, boXplorer, XboxCommander and DVD2XBOX are out.  If you need to fiddle with the machine yourself, these can be put into a different folder (I use "ProApps", for Professional Apps) and you can run boXplorer from a DVD-R to access them.  If you do this, don't forget to tie down XBMP's application launcher so that it can't find these extra apps.

It's far from a weird request.
From an owner's point of view, you want to let the kids play with the Xbox.  You don't want a "Your Xbox requires service" message because of it.
From an installer's point of view, you don't want end users deleting files left, right and centre then telling you "my Xbox ain't working now, it was fine before you chipped it".

or the coolest idea is to get the tHc dash and use the password protection settings to block them from getting at things just leave the games option open!

the tHc dash is really the original xbox dashboard modified like crazy!

its pretty cool and you dont have to worrie about erasing or editing some ini file which could be stressfull at times

heres some pictures
