Title: Flashing A V1.1 Sharp Tsop.....
Post by: BaDvs3viL on February 06, 2004, 06:40:00 AM
Haha....I finally ran into a Sharp TSOP last night.....I have done many xbox's and never have had a Sharp...

anyway....Ive read plenty on it before .....But I must have done something wrong...I get read only error out of raincoat....

I cant find a tutorial on this anywhere....

anybody care to help me out real quick?

Thanks

EDIT......

Here is what I thought I read and did to it already......

I soldered wires to each of the 2 points.....so each point had 2 wires coming from it.....I think I read that I only needed to do one of the ponits...but I couldnt remember which one...so I just did both....left the wires apart and booted the box, loaded 007 and got raincoat.....Then put the wires together.....tried to flash and got the "Read Only Error"......try adding device to raincoat blah blah blah....I thought hummm.... I know I got the .501 and its updated.....so I thought I try and leave the wires together and boot the xbox....and just like they say, that xbox didnt boot...Just gave me a black screen.....so I must be close......

laugh.gif

EDIT....

Ok Did some more searching and found this......

WARNING!!!! If your tsop on a v1.0 or v1.1 mother board is a sharp tsop. You will need to add a wire to bridge two rather spread apart points. See image bellow.

...Hummm I couldnt post the pic....but I got it from this great tut by blueinfinity

This Great Tut!

Now is that telling me to solder the 2 points just like I would in any other xbox and use that wire also?.......or what?

Solder wires to top points and leave them disconnected from eachother.
Connect those two far points (Vcc and another point) with a wire
Put mobo etc in case

I second the motion for more input from the people who have successfully flashed the SHARP LH28F008SCT TSOP.

I have read, like many others, all i can find about flashing the sharp tsop. I have also tried to adapt methods that were for other brand tsops. My setup is a V1.2 NTSC Xbox with a 1MB Sharp LH28F008SCT Tsop. I have solder joined the two WE point at the bottom and connected the two that are far from each other (LPC and P11 i believe). I have soldered two seperate wires from the top two points so i can "twist" them together shortly after i boot the xbox.

So far i have tried to :
1) flash using the Evox_Matrix bios in conjuction with Xecuter 2.1 Lite. By the way works with any of the other brand 1MB bios's. Problems i ran into was i was getting black screen. For some reason it didn't want to boot with the Evox_Matrix bios. Remember i have done this before on other brand TSOP's.

2) flash using Mech Assault Exploit. I first ran into problems with unsigend "default.xbe", fixed this problem and Evox would boot when loading the MechAssault saved game file from HDD. Problem i'm having with this is that the Sharp TSOP won't erase. It just sits there and the indicator bar doesn't move at all. As for the top bios enable points, i would have them touch and remain touching soon after i boot the xbox, load game save -> Evox loads -> continue onto flashing bios -> Evox detects bios (the TSOP definition in the evox.ini file had i "#" infront so i deleted the "#" to enable Evox to recongnize the TSOP) -> press "Y" to start the erasure process -> just hangs and sits there doing nothing.

Boy am i loosing alot of sleep and hair from this SHARP TSOP. Hope someone can save me!, and all the others who have or soon will come across these SHARPS.

BTW here is the evox.ini line that i use for the SHARP:
Flash = 0x89a6,"SHARP - LH28F008SCT",0x100000,0x20,0xd0,0x10

I second the motion for more input from the people who have successfully flashed the SHARP LH28F008SCT TSOP.

I've successfully flashed my Sharp TSOP.  I've done exactly as said (connect bottom points, connect bottom wire, connect separate wires to top points) and flashed it with raincoat.  I found that flashing it with EvoX does NOT work (it won't erase).

Check the forecast.  Looks like it's time to take out your-

I have the same problem w/ the sharp tsop not erasing...  Thanks to Grospolina for posting his suggestion of raincoat...  I will try to use that one.  I will try and post my success/failure here for others to see, since the sharp tsop is turning to be a major s.o.b.    and i found this great forum which helped explain alot as well... http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...177023&hl=sharp

cheers A@ron m8 ,

I was scratching my head for ages wondering what was going wrong.

seems none of the other tuts make it clear that we need to boot up first then join the top two together.

I think others should add it more clearly to thier tuts.

yeah

basically theres 3 points instead of 2

u do the 2 normal ones
then theres a 3rd one..
however, u do not connect the 3rd one until the xbox boots
if u connect it before u turn the xbox on itll give u no video

flash it with ur favoured bios.. and away u go (u can leave it connected if the bios has the no a/v hack)
