I plan on only using the kernel FTP server for emergency recovery purposes only; for now I'll stick with MXM's built-in daemon. However, I'm still giddy over the fact that it has been done.

Totally INCORRECT!!!
1.2's and 1.3's have 256K Bioses 1.0's and 1.1's have the 1 Meg.

As has been discussed in the pinned thread in the Xbox BIOS forum, the FTP server code is a bit over 256K. Given that the 4977 code is 256 by itself, the size of the BIOS gets pushed past 512K, which causes it to overflow to 1024K.

If it was a bad flash I reckon you'd be getting FRAG instead of booting up.
Incidentally I've never had any problems booting games, etc. Must be the good ol' EvoX D.6 BIOS I'm using!
