Title: Frag. Disc Is Not Recognized In Recovery Mode. Xenium Ice
Post by: CJLee89 on February 23, 2007, 09:08:00 PM
have you tried recovering from the HDD file. it has to be on the root of E and all you have to do hit 'recovery' on the XOS main menu. the switch should be in normal operating position.

check your connections. a corrupt OS would not cause a frag.

are you burning a raw file or are you actually selecting "burn image to disc"? some xbox's are very picky on the media you use. try some CD-R media.

how old is your chip? i would say your chip is going bad. if it works in recovery it should work in normal. usually  a corrupt OS doesnt cause a frag.

It's a little over two years old.

OK Cjlee was correct in the OS being corrupt will not (usually) cause frag. When you get frag are you getting the MSdash or the MS error screen or no video on the screen?

I get no video.

And it is definitely red and green, onot just red, orange and red, or red and green to solid red?

For the disk, some drives read better with many files ranther than just one large one. Also if you have ever recovered the OS from the HD you will need to disconnect the HD before running recovery.

It is 3 reboot then FRAG, with no video. In recovery mode, it goes straight to the recovery screen. I have a Thompson Drive. The chip shows red.

3 reboot frag is different than just frag. Try making the disk as I suggested abouve, also you may want to check continuity from the to of each pin to the bottom and clean the LPC. Pay close attention to pins 7, 8, 10, and 11 .

Wow! The same thing is going on with my xbox. Exactly. I have tried everything. could it be a bad chip?

like before check connections. perform a recovery. reflash the bios. clear the cache. and read the iceguide in my sig.

and yes un plugging the HDD means plugging both power and IDE. even though it should matter if you only have one or the other unplugged.

this is just to see if your xbox is still good. take the chip off the adaptor and boot the xbox with out the chip out. what does it do?

make sure your connections on the DVD drive is connected securely.

so the xbox works without the chip?

check the connections. all of them.

make sure the chip is facing with the "X" towards the back of the xbox and on the 12 farthest pins from the screw.

take everything off and re-install the adaptor and the chip in the orientation i posted above. it took me at least 8 times to get it perfect to where it will boot.
