Title: Upgrading Hd
Post by: jonz510 on February 08, 2007, 01:51:00 PM
hello. i'm trying to upgrade the stock hd with a 120gb WD HD i have laying around. can someone tell me whether i need to preformat the 120gg to fat32 or ntsf first? or will the xenium gold upgrade hd wizard will do this automatically?

thanks for the help.

the wizard will format it correctly and copy everything over.

the iceguide (in my sig) will tell you how to do this.

thanks for the info; i follow the spiceguide v9 tutorial as it was the most updated version. i was able to upgrade the new hd and it seems to be working somewhat. i tested out 4 games i own and the 1st & 2nd game worked fine; the 3rd one appears to hang while loading; the 4th is a new game i haven't played yet but also stalled while i was creating a new profile.

i've deleted the save profile of game 3 but it did not solve anything and still hang. i checked the settings and everything looks fine; hd locked, jumper set to cs.

when i plugged in the old stock hd, all the games worked flawlessly.

can someone offer additional suggestion how to troubleshoot this? thanks for the help.

clear the cache, make sure TSR and IGR are turned off if you are using evox dash. also make sure you are using DVD2Xbox 7.8<<<latest version.

the spice guide just has the additional info on how to install the SP adaptor. other than that they are exactly the same. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

i have not added 3rd party dashboard or addons (ie dvd2xbox etc.) yet. i'm running the tsop (orginal xbox bio). the only thing i've done so far to the xbox is, install mod chip, backed up tsop & eeprom, and upgrade hd.

how do i proceed to clear the cache?; i don't know what trs & igr are as i'm running any dash. that for the help cjlee

IGR=in game reset.
TSR=trainers

these are just for evox settings and sometimes games require these to be turned off.

so you are saying the games dont work from the disc?

in the XOS under disk tools there is an option that says clear cache.

that is correct; the games does not work from the original disc. the disc are not scratch.

the new hd i installed is a brand new oem and has never been used. could it be that i needed to fist formate & partition it in windows. then use the wizard to upgrade in the xbox?

i've tried clearing the cache but still no luck.

try updating to evox 3935. and then make sure you have IGR and TSR off.

E:/ or F:/apps<<<install the dvd2xbox folder to that

try going to the MSdash and deleting the DVD2Xbox save. then clear the cache, again, and then delete COD from the HDD. and then re-rip the game. at last resort delete the whole COD gamesave and start over.

you will have to back up the entire drive and format with XboxHDM. make sure you have F and G drive formatted.
