use the template as screwin mentioned. and make sure you put them in the right holes according to the template. if you cant see good enough grab a magnifying glass to help you.

and the only switch is on the chip. make sure it is covering the black dot

pick the SpiceGuide (link in my sig) up if you havent already!!!

Also I read that the power supply needs to be safely covered by the HDD houseing. Is there somthing special I am supposed to do to give my xbox power? All I was doing was plugging the xbox in and clicking the power button.

Well I have the 4 wires in the correct holes and they are stuck solid....but the curved wire broke when trying get it into the hole. Is there a way to fix this or a way around it?  blink.gif

and yes I am using the guide for the wires...

the curved wire is the d0 connection and that was a bad mistake. you can use the blue and black wire harness as an alternate but it requires some soldering.

It's no the d0 on a 1.6 so the blue wire cannot be used to bypass it, but soldering is your only solution short of getting another adapter. If the hook only broke loose and is still in the adapter you can solder a small drop at the base of the wire and the adapter. If the hook broke out completely then you will have to solder a wire from the via on the motherboard where the hook goes (lad1) to pin 4 on the adapter. An easy way is to use the bottom solder point and come up through the LPC to the blank spot on the bottom of the adapter for pin 4. Easiest is to call your reseller and tell them it came that way  tongue.gif

yeah it's as Rabid1 said about the d0, and my next statement may just be beside the point for now....but you you don't want to have the chip/dvddrive/hdd plugged in either when your testing the connection of the wires.  powering the system up in this configuration will give you an led indication showing you if all 5 wires are connected properly, if you don't see 1 of them lit up then u need to adjust it

Yea, I've broken that DO connection too. What I did was take the blue wire and cut a reasonable length of it off the harness. I then plugged it into the DO hole (No solder or anything - couldn't find my gun) and then hot-glued (use solder... hot glue is a pain) the other end to the pad on the adapter. Well, it was a no-solder solution anyway. Hope this helps.
Ohh...yea, make sure to be careful of that power supply. I've been bitten by that thing before....

like rabid said you cant use the harness on a v1.6. and you shouldnt use a gun when soldering for the xbox.

Whoops, I apologize...meant to say I could find my iron. Sorry, late-night post. Anyways, you misunderstand. I didn't use the harness, I amputated the blue wire from it. I then stripped a little insulation from the end of the blue wire I cut, stuck one end into the DO and soldered/glued the other end to the pad on the 1.6 adapter. Sorry for the wrong info.

its all good. thats a good idea though if you dont need the harness. thanks for correcting yourself.  smile.gif
