Title: Networking Problems With Ice Chip
Post by: BigFarnz on December 26, 2005, 10:20:00 AM
I had this chip in a 1.0 xbox for about a year.  About six months after installing it, the network would not work.  I tried DHCP and assigning a Static address to the xbox, but nothing would work.  I only use this box for XBMC, so I shelved it and forgot about it.  A couple of months later, someone gave me a 1.6 xbox with a bad hard drive.  I took the old xbox out to remove the ice chip, and for fun, tried firing it up on the network.  For some reason it worked!  So I went ahead and soft modded that box so I could solder the ice chip in to the 1.6 box.  Now, here is where my problem is:  I have soldered in the chip and everything is working fine except for the network.  No matter what I do, I can not get the xbox to either grab an ip or use one that I place in statically.  I have tried to go straight to the ms dash to pull the ip, but that didn't work.  Evox sees the connection as indicated by a full 100 connection.  I am convinced this is  a problem with this chip as it had happened with my other xbox.  Has anyone else had this problem, or now how I can "trick" the software into running on the network?  Thanks.
