first off, try grounding the chip.  then try powering the xbox on while your (fairly firmly) pressing down the chip/adapter onto the mob.

press down on the chip/mobo fairly firmly and tighten the screw on the adapter 1/4 turn (MAKE SURE YOU DON'T STRIP THE SCREW!)  Installed properly, you shouldn't have any trouble in the future with the adapter.
