Title: My 2 Cents On Xeniums Chips Fragging
Post by: blakksmiff on November 21, 2005, 11:37:00 AM
I just wanted to give my 2 cents on this issue. Anyone that has installed a solderless adapter with the Xenium and has all the lights on the adapter light up, and still gets a FRAG (or what looks like a FRAG), take a moment to verify whether or not you connected the chip to the adapter correctly. When connected properly the LED on the chip should be green once you power on. I know this may seem pretty idiotic, but I was attempting to do a mod the other day and this simple mistake caused my progress to be delayed by an hour. From one newb to another.

If you mean, not lining the chip properly to the adapter when connecting it, I did the same thing when I got my first one.  But it didn't take me an hour to figure out, I'm happy about that.  Once I saw the chip was lighting Red and that the xbox was booting straight to the msdash I knew it was an alignment error.

But yeah, good info for people new to installing chips to know

See, my box would not even boot to the M$ Dash. It just turn on/off/on/off/on and i got a blank screen. My first thought was that the chip was screwed being that I bought it second hand. I had the chip installed so that the Xenium logo was facing away from the edge of the board. I soon realized this was wrong.
