If he is having problems with the solderless his chances of soldering are not so great besides it is not certain what the problem is, despite the constant repetition of "blah blah blah solder, blah blah blah pay somebody, blah."
look carefully at the LPC the pins locations are numbered on the mobo
basically looking from the front to the back of the xbox, pin 4 is where there is no hole in the motherboard

It could be pin 2 or 9.
If the black adapter and the white LED board came together it makes me curious if you got a used adapter. they normally come seperate with popcorn on the wires.
Also check continuity on pins 2 and 9 top to bottom.
I tested #9 on the LPC and grounded the other line and I get a quick beep. (continuity) Is #9 supposed to just give off a quick beep? (but i get a reading after that on the meter, just no sound)
When I test #2 on the chip to the hook I get nothing but I am sure that is nothing to be conserned about. (WIth chip off mobo) I just thought I'd mention it.
It seems that #2 could be the problem. This particular hole has the solder down about 1/4 of the way. I don't believe that the prong (I don't know what to call it) is not getting contact when placed on the Mobo. It is possible.
I have a friend of mine coming over tonight (Electronics guy but not a gamer) to look at the continuity stuff and to see what other issues could be causing this. All I do is tell him what it is supposed to do.
Maybe #2 needs that Xacto you mentioned. (?)
Is it sensible to "remove" the solder from any of these holes and stick in the rivets? (Mainly #2 & #9)
On my Xbox (v1.1) all I did was use 3 rivets in #'s 1, 2 and 9 I think) I followed the directions but don't remember which ones they were off hand. It could have been 14, & 15, not sure)

All went smoothly and it is now working. My friend used a solder sucker and removed the solder in the LPC. Put the chip on and it worked right away.
My only issue is this: after installing Slayers disk, (which took an hour & a half...dang Thomson drive) I get an error 21 before loading the EvoX dash.
Have you ever heard of this error?
