So far it's only happening in PGR2. I'll have been playing for 30 minutes or so and it just shuts down. I can power back up and play it again for 5 minutes and it shuts down again.
I was thinking it was an overheating problem but this is the only game it's happening in.
I have a 1.6, upgraded HD to a 60 GB (WD 7200 RPM) and an SP i.c.e. chip. Any ideas/suggestions?
Could I just have a bad backup of the game?
Thanks

Try running it off the original, since you must own it in order to back it up. Check the connection on the chip, it may be coming loose. Clear the contents of your e:\cache dir.

I cleared the E:\cache when this first happened. Did not correct the problem.
I took your advice, played off the original game disc. Same problem. I then loaded the retail BIOS and played. About 20 minutes into the game the XBOX just shut off.
No blinking lights, no warning. Just shut itself down.
Any other suggestions?

I just tried another game. Same deal. I don't understand what could be causing this.
I pulled the chip off, checked all the SP connections. Everything was fine. I even removed the 5 pins and alligned again.
I even went as far as pulling out the upgraded HD, went back to the original.
Nothing seems to be working here.

You could try cranking your fanspeed up... can't hurt.

Try the original hd. If you used the wizard to upgrade the hd, reformat it using slayers.

Did that as well. Same result.

Did that also...
Now it's muliple games. I need to determine now if it's the ICE or the actual XBOX. I am going to pull the ICE out and put the XBOX back to "retail" setup and see what happens tomorrow.
Maybe I just have a bad chip... That's what I am hoping for now since the chip can be exchaned. I doubt the XBOX can be (even though it's been less that 30 days). I have a feeling they'd check and see the sticker had been broken.

I was gonna say that next, take the chip out and try it as retail. I have a feeling its the adapter tho, I'd suugest having it soldered in.

It's the XBOX. I removed the ICE. Was playing PGR2 for all of 15 minutes and it just powered off. This really sucks now!
I purchased it from EB Games, it was a MS referbished unit. I know they won't take it back, even with the seal being broken (I doubt they'ed look) but there return/exchange policy is only 14 days.
Guess I have a $130 door stop

Sell it on ebay as an as is. Just tell the truth and you should be able to get most of your money back.

My only regret... I did not unlock my 60 GB upgraded HD before I exchanged it... so now I have a 60 GB drive that is worthless.

How did you lock it? If you locked it under xenium os or config magic, its not dead. You can im me on aim AceMiloX, I can walk you thru a recovery and get it unlocked.

Really! The drive was locked though the Xenium OS. I used the upgrade wizard and then just locked it within the OS once complete.
That would be awesome if you could help me unlock it. I'll try to catch you on AIM today.
Thanks
