Title: Sp Ice Trouble...
Post by: appleguru on April 29, 2005, 12:23:00 PM
All you need to do for a 1.4 is use the black base of the adapter instead of the whole thing. So you wont be using the plastic guide or the curved white piece. Put the adapter on LPC, screw it in, and stick the spring wire in d0. then just put the chip on the pins furthest from the screw and you're good to go smile.gif

Shouldn't.

First thing is to try flipping the recovery switch (the little switch on the side of the chip; flip it so the black dot is exposed). If you see recovery mode, then your OS needs to be reflashed.. if you don't then your adapter is not aligned correctly and/or isn't making good contact with all the LPC holes.. you may wish to try installing the rivets.

I did notice that there is one pin on the adapter where there is no LPC hole.... it just has two tiny holes almost like the d0 hole.

Apple, don't start this again, 1.5s do exist, they are just very rare, there is at least one senior member of the forum that has one.  Anyway, it IS an allignment issue, 100%.  Honestly, your choices are limited to either keep trying to allign it, or to just solder it or have someone solder it for you.

Ok, if i push down on the chip and get it to start, should it boot to the xenium os?

If so, it doesn't.   Just boots to the xbox os, I can play my games normally... but shouldn't i be seeing a red and blue screen?

As Appleguru suggests make sure you are using the thick washer. Also you can search for the paper trick in htese forums. Of all the S.P. I have installed the 3 1.4s all needed the paper trick, go figure.

I can't get it, tried cleaning the contacts 1000 times....nothing
I can't get the d0 to make a good connection no matter how hard a try, so i quit.
Took it out, and am sick of it.
thanks for all your help in trying to resolve this matter but it just can't be done.

thanks anyway

No, i couldn't solder it.  I'm almost certain i would get it everywhere.

What do you do when you have cleaned all the connections with alcohol, scraped and scraped and scraped on the d0 hole, got the wire in there real secure.... and it still boots to the ms dash?

you throw the mofo out the window and be done with it

heh, just answered my own question

The rivets are useless.  If you can't get it alligned I highly suggest having it soldered.

Honestly I wouldn't invest another penny in adapters.  I'd return the sp adapter if possible or sell it in the bst forums and just use the money to have someone solder it in for you.  Then you will haev no problems what so ever.

I used to have a 1.5, but I sold It it a friend. Also I meant take a qtip and soak one tip in rubbing alcohol (squeeze out a little so it doesn't mop the mofo... err mobo) the clean the lpc ports with the tip that was soaked in the rubbing alcohol. Just stroak it back and fourth on the holes even if the look clean. Mine did the same thing as yours but worked after that.

That's why I only recommend buying from ppl on the official resellers list, and if your in america, theres no reason not to order from bmmods, he's the best reseller of all.  Theres tons of installers on these boards (myself included) so I'm sure you will have no problems finding one near you.  I wouldn't trust anyone who has never done xboxs before.
