its hard to say but i am a noob whenn it comes to xbox modding. i have a xbox i believe is model 1.0 because i bought it in nov 01. right around when it came out. now im looking to mod it with the Xodus Xenium ICE Solderless chip. i was wondering if thatas the best one for a noob? im not upgrading the hd so i have money for xbox 2 later on and i can keep burnt discs. but i also use live. will i be able to play burnt games on live with this chip and i definitley wont get banned right?
i actually sell the universal solderless adapters for the xenium ice, they do not use wires , just 1 wire , and its actually gold/copper, and very sturdy.
they use pins which are spring loaded. They are extremly easy to install for any n00b. Ive tested the adapter out myself, by installing it, takes less than 30 seconds to do, for a n00b maybe a few minutes. You align the adapter over top, put in the screw, and tighten it till it is firmly in place.
The only wire is the D0 wire, this fits right into the hole, and you just push down a bit on the upside down U arc. This ensures even with movement it won't easily come loose. Ive tried shaking, kicking moving etc the xbox after, and it didn't budge. For better connection of course soldering is better.
The lay out of the xenium menu is also very user friendly.
under the launch menu, are where all your bios's can go.
Your retail bios can be added here, by clicking add new , then selecting TSOP
That takes a matter of a few seconds to do, and now you have your retail bios.
You load that whenever you want to play on xbox live.
To play backups etc, you need to go to the add menu again, and this time select FLASH, you can select to flash it either from the D: drive or the E: drive
Select your haxx bios, and it will have that one as well.
You can have a total of 5 bios's including the Retail.
1 on board, and 4 on the chip (256kb in size)
Hope that clears things up just a bit for you.
ok but how do i load the original ms bios and the new bios? i saw that the xenium ice comes with a bios on the chip. so after i install i would go into thje tsop menu and flash. is there a guide for this whole operation. ive taken it from people that the install is easy with the solderless adapter. but now the bios thing is getting me nervous. i dont want to get banned from xbox live. so as i take it it comes with the xenium bios with the mod chip. where would i install the original bios from. is it automatically there when i go into tsop?
There are plenty of guides. The complete n00b guide to everything is good as is the Xenium Ice guide. Start there. Also, start reading the stickies in the n00b sections and the rules of the forum. Feel free to keep asking questions, but it really seems as though you have not done much background reading and you will definitely benefit from that. None of the steps are too hard, but you will need to understand the nomenclature before the answers to your questions even make sense.
No one on the site can guarantee you won't get banned if you start modding the xbox, but there are plenty of posts regarding the current banning theories and how to avoid bans. Keep searching and reading those strings. The only way to be 100% positive you won't ever get banned is to use 1 xbox for live that is a stock box and get another to mod. Since you sound like you don't have the money for that, stop worrying about getting banned and read the posts. You'll figure it out.
As a final note, you should not have a backup of a game that you would have to go out to rent if you wanted to go online. Having that backup would mean that you pirated the game. No one on this site wants to talk to you about pirating.
Good luck.
really, read the noob guide listed above. helps a lot. it will give instructions on where the original bios is and all.
a basic is this, the original bios is on the tsop. so when it says flash from tsop, you are loading the original bios.
the other bios (depending on xbox type you got) will be loaded on the chip.
read the guides. that will give you some "basics" at least with terminology. its tough when you dont have that. i just modded a buddy of mines box and had to go through the whole thing of explaining what a dash is, what a bios is, ect. terminology is a noobs first priority in my opinion.
im going to start reading more of the guides. im probably going to send my xbox to spyman for my first mod.he seems to be very reliable. i appreciate the posts and the help ive recieved here.
