Bassiclly heres the rundown of my install.  V. 1.0 box.

Had Fry's electronics solder in my pins, the guy has modded box's before.  did the d0 myself (bottom side), then solder the wire onto the d0 part of the chip and it should work right?  no flashing required?

the questions you should be asking yourself is one who did u get it from and two what version your xbox is

I don't know anything about the place the chip was purchased from, so I don't want this to sound like a flame against them. I am definitely thinking it is possible that more than one place may resell bad chips, chips killed in install, on the assumption it was just a problem with the installer. Somebody posted that they use a black light marker on an RMA to make sure they do not get back the same defective chips they send in. That way the seller has no idea you have marked it. None of the 40 some chips I have got have had a problem and all were from varying sources.

I have talked to alot of people with bad installs and the first question I ask is what way was the chip facing when you put it in. Not one has been able to say off the bat. Or they will say the last time they put it in they checked against pivtures froma guide, which tells me they probably fubar'd the chip 1st try. It is easy to drop that chip in backwards and not even think about it. A nice feature would be a blocked pin layout so you can't puy it in backwards.

allholy1, I suggest taking the chip back to the person who tested it for you and use their box to try to flash the OS on their working box using the switch on the chip.

well, I bought it online... xbox-modchips.com, so they are located in canada.. i'm not going ot drive there to have them test it out at all.  What else can  I do, I just emaile them and told them that it is still not working out.  Could I be installing it right... I am positive that I a have the right D0 point that the lpc is soldered right....

Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying.  I thought you meant take it back to the seller.  Right now I am stuck at college with no car, and there are some friends of friends who have a modchip, but they know crap about what they have inside of their xbox.  Could I somehow do it off of their boxes?  Or should I wait until february 18th to bring it to the guy who installs mods to have him flash it then?

eh, kinda new to the site, been reading here for a few months, sign'd up about a month ago , been doing nothing but reading reading reading, this is my first post .....anyways on to the reply, this maybe far fetched as i'm not sure if it's still going on, but aren't there resellers out there that sell totally fake chips that just look a like? and if so could that be a posibility? sorry if this is stupid i just remember reading something about that on this site.
